Cheer up, it's a girl

Her mind was busy while she was looking at her girls. She loves them so much. She is expecting another baby; she longed to have a boy. Her husband also loves to have a boy and told her that this time it must be a boy. A few days later she walked into doctor’s office to have sonogram to see if the baby is ok and also to find out about baby’s gender.  She was informed that the baby was fine and the baby was a girl.

She didn’t know whether to be happy or not and how to give the news to her husband. Sad story!

Are you familiar with such stories?  Do you have such people around you? Are you one of these people?

Hopefully these kind of thoughts are not common as they were in the past, but still we have them. It has a long story; in the past people prefer boys over girls because it was boys who worked outside the house and were responsible for living, although women always work hard alongside with men. Another reason was because they fight so often so they need boys in order to have more soldiers.

Kings always wanted to have boys in order to have a substitute for their throne.

I even consider this kind of thoughts among people who claim whatever God grants them they will accept it with pleasure, but in reality they also insist on having boys even  if it means having six or seven girls.

Unfortunately even most of  women have these kind of thoughts. They like to have boys and they take so much proud in themselves when they give birth to boys.

Whenever a baby girl’s birth is welcomed by sadness it breaks my heart. A question pops in my head why? Why it should be like this?

Time has changed. Now women are almost as capable as men. Men and women have differences but it doesn’t mean that one is superior to the other.

Women give beauty to the world. Their kind hearts give life to everything.  Their love and their compassion help others through difficult times. Look at a mother; the way she takes care of her babies, she is ready to sacrifice her life for her kids. Look at a wife; she supports her husband with all her heart, she comforts her husband with all her love. Look at a girl; she adores her father, she loves her father the way nobody does.

Oh what a dull world it would be without these little angels. If you are a girl if you are going to have a girl be proud of yourself. Let’s change these unpleasant way of thinking towards girls. Let’s start from ourselves. Cheer up it’s a girl.:D

  • very nice blog and the way you write is very impressive...

children are the gift of God whether they are boys or girls.

  • Dear Setareh,

Every child is a blessing, Weather its a boy or girl. I was born and brought up in a society where boys treated higher than girls and all sort of restrictions only for girls. But I am glad my parents treated me and my brother same from very young. They gave me good education, and helped me to stand on my own feet. My mum and Dad really proud of me! I am really touched by your story Setareh! Well done!

  • Dear Ann, thanks for your comment. I am glad that all kids are loved in your family.
  • What a nice topic talking here Setareh. In my country many people still prefer a boy. My husband 's family is one. I do not argue them. That is a kind of traditional. When you born a boy, he will be named by your Family name, so will their kid. People believes that is the way to keep their generation continued.
My husband get pressure of having a boy until his brother got one.
But anyway they can not choose girl or boy. Whenever born they will be love the most by the family even girl or boy.
  • Dear Beethoven, can you compose a wonderful music and devote it to all girls.:D that would be great.
  • Dear Alice, cheers to your great country with such a great attitude.:D
  • Dear Saba, you are right. We have to be grateful for such a precious gift indeed.
  • Thank you so much for sharing your blog. Girls are gifts of the God. I by my self prefer girls to boys.
  • Daughters radiate the love that comes from the mother so easily and this is why in my country it is always a blessing to have a daughter because they carry on the love to take care of their old parents and even  their other siblings not so much out of duty but more so out of giving back the love.  Cheers to daughters everywhere! :)

  • When a baby girl is born and the parents are unhappy, it looks like they have been given a precious gift but ungrateful.
