There was a joke about the sun. It was said that two persons were arguing about the sun. The first said, "This is the sun." The second said, "No, this is not the sun." Suddenly a man appeared and they asked him whether that yellow ball above was the sun or not. His answer was, " I am not from this country." If the truth, the fact are in front of you, surrender.

Aristotle stated: "To say of what is that it is not, or of what is not that it is, is false, while to say of what is that it is, and of what is not that it is not, is true".
But these are ancient attitudes, every thing changes by time!? :)

I like the moral told in this story, "If the truth, the facts are in front of you, surrender!" Speaking personally, I've met a few who remained adamant even the facts and figures were thrown to them one after another!
They'll stick to their guns until the world crumble into dust. Thus, I think, it's better to save our breath! There are many open minded people out there who are ever willing to listen to us :-)
