Michelle Obama celebrates Nowruz

Nowruz  (Persian: نوروز‎, IPA:  meaning "[The] New Day") is the name of the Iranian New Year.

March 11, 2015

https://www.whitehouse.gov/photos-and-video/video/2015/03/11/first-lady-celebrates-nowruz-white-house

MRS. OBAMA:  Hello everyone!  Nowruzetan Mobarak!  (Applause.)

It is really, truly a pleasure to have you all here at the White House.  I want to start by thanking Ashley for that wonderful introduction.  Doesn’t she make us all proud?  (Applause.)  Ashley represents everything we hope for our kids, and it’s just an honor to have been introduced by such a smart, focused, beautiful young lady.  So let’s give Ashley a round of applause.  (Applause.)  We can do better than that!  (Applause.)  I know Ashley’s family is here.  I heard the Ashley shout-out.  We can do that.

But I also want to thank and recognize someone special on my staff, Pantea Faed.  (Applause.)  Pantea is a part of the social office staff, and she has really put a lot of time and love and energy into making this event possible.  I am so proud of Pantea.  She has just grown here in the White House.  And she is sharp and on top of things.  She runs our lives -- (laughter) -- and she does it with grace.  She even pushed her parents out of the greet so gracefully.  (Laughter.)  She just moved them out.  But Pantea -- we want to give Pantea a round of applause, too, for doing a really great job.  And I’m very proud of her.  We all are proud of her here at the White House.

But most of all, I want to thank all of you.  We’ve got leaders here from our businesses and our schools, government, entertainment community and more as we celebrate Nowruz.

And I think it’s so fitting that we’re holding this celebration here today because one of my favorite things about the White House is how it is truly the People’s House –- a house that reflects the diversity of culture and traditions that make us who we are as a country.  And Nowruz is one of those traditions.

For more than 3,000 years, families and communities in the Middle East, Asia, and all around the world, including here in the United States, have celebrated this holiday to mark the renewal of the earth in springtime -- and we’re finally feeling spring!  Yay for that!  (Applause.)  To reflect on the year before, and to make new commitments for good health, prosperity in the year ahead.

And just like in many of your homes, we have created our own White House Haft-Seen.  As you all know, Haft-Seen essentially means “Seven S’s,” and each “S” represents a different hope for the New Year -- a hope for blessings like patience and love and sweetness.  For example, we’ve got grass (Sabzeh in Persian) sprouts that represent rebirth and renewal of nature.  We’ve got an apple (Sib in Persian) for health and beauty.  We have crushed berry spice that represents the sunrise and the spice of life.  And after a long winter, we can use a little bit of all of that, right?  Finally thawing out.  You’re ready for summer, aren’t you?  I can tell.  (Laughter.)

And as for the food we’ll be enjoying today, we know that this holiday centers on family and community, so we created a menu for you that reflects our White House family.  The dishes in the State Dining Room are inspired by some of our staffers’ old family recipes.  And are there any family members here who contributed?  Let’s hear from you.  Come on, don’t be shy.  Where are you?  (Laughter.)  They’ll take credit for it later.  (Laughter.)

But I also want to thank local chef Maziar Farivar, who is here cooking for us today, and I know his family is here as well, and our White House chefs working together for putting together such a delicious menu.

And finally, we’re going to have some wonderful entertainment.  We have the Silk Road Dance Company with us today.  (Applause.)  And Payam Yousefi is also -- (applause) -- that was a good one.  I like that.  (Laughter.)  Is that the best one -- that’s good.  You can do it again -- Payam Yousefi.  (Applause.)  All right, that’s going to be good.  They’re going to be performing some wonderful music and dances from all over the world.

So I hope that you guys will make yourselves at home.  I hope that you feel at home.  I hope you feel the welcome, the love, the spirit of this holiday.  I hope you enjoy the food, the friendship, and just being at the White House.  Isn’t it cool?  (Laughter and applause.)  It’s kind of cool.

     AUDIENCE MEMBER:  Join us!

MRS. OBAMA:  I’m going to be around and about listening and -- (laughter) -- they keep me moving around here.  (Laughter.)

But it is -- we’re just delighted to have you here.  And we hope you enjoy the celebration.  Enjoy the house, enjoy the weather.  And Happy Nowruz.  Thank you all.  (Applause.)

Story by Numbers: # 11

Here is my story for this month's Writing Challenge. Thank you to Marisa and for introducing us to the Great Storymaking Tool. special Thanks to Tara for her suggestion.

This story uses words and phrases found with #11.

Character: a time traveler

Place: an airport

Situation: getting angry with your best friend

Object: a map with a hole

Frontier

Austin, neatly dressed , took  paces slowly.

Extremely tired! It was 2:00 A.m!

Seemed each steps had a mountain carrying on, was thinking how good it was if he had a device that send him to his dream lands. Always he dreamed to be faster than the speed of light and break any laws of physics in order to travel in time.

He had not any luggage, so went through the departure lounge, found an empty seat and flung himself on.

Had a message: " I'm in traffic, will arrive later"

Looked at his old pale watch, its big screen told him that there is left 4 hours to his flight.
Opened his briefcase and put his cellphone in. Lifted it up on his laps,  put his arms on, had a look around, a man having a Brigham classic pipe and paper in hand sat down beside him.

Austin leaned his head on his arms, now he only longed for a bed to sleep.

  Boo Boo!

Flight BA332 is now boarding ,..
The airport announcement was the last thing he heard, his dull eyelids overlapped.

He felt that his heavy lumpish body is slumping deeply into the earth and cannot help himself.
By force opened his eyes. Everywhere was dark, there was not fog but a heavy ashy smoking smelling, which made him cough. He was surrounded between long trees, A far-off glimmer.

He stood up, could easily feel the velvety loam under his naked feet, a sense of fly! he was alleviated and in a flash could reach the light, Now could hear unclear noises too! a vague unfamiliar language, something like ritual Chant, Hiding behind the trees he could see them, like Cherokee Indians were dancing around fire and had burial ceremony of their enemy!

Had he backed in time! really?! well! when and where??!
Confusing and awaiting. Put hand in his coat pocket, touched a paper like, brought it out, seems like a map but crumpled and with a big hole in!!

  _ "Now what should I do! "

He was irritating and nagging at himself !

Suddenly felt a hand patting on his shoulder!
Really frightened! Was full in a sweat!
Was going to burst out to scream!  Turned back!

Uh! It was Jason, his best friend who was standing before him!
Austin had erupted like a volcano fighting and shouting !
Where have you been! Why you left me alone! Where is here!..

A horrible fight between two old friends!
Jason which had got angry with Austin, gave him a sharp smack on his cheek and called:

_ "Austin!"
_ "Austin!"

Austin opened his eyes! It was his friend's cold hand slapping across his face!

_ "Austin! Are you okay?!  Wake up Please!   It is going to be late!" Jason said

  Uh!

While the crumpled Map of the city which they were in was yet in Austin's hand, had a look at Jason. stood up, put the map back to his pocket,  …

  Boo Boo,...

"This is final boarding call for passengers on Flight 372A to Kansas. Please proceed to gate 3 immediately ……"

I would appreciate if there is any mistakes help me to correct them!

free IQ test

An intelligence quotient, or IQ is a score derived from one of several standardized tests designed to assess intelligence.

Intelligence tests are one of the most popular types of psychological tests in use today.

Have you ever tried intelligence tests ? Have you wondered what your IQ score is?

Do you like to try it?

Today by chance I faced and tried this IQ test.

The result was this.

Free IQ Test

What Is the Average IQ?

On the majority of modern IQ tests, the average  score is set at 100 with a standard deviation of 15 so that scores conform to a normal distribution curve. This means that 68 percent of scores fall within one standard deviation of the mean (that is, between 85 and 115), and 95 percent of scores fall within two standard deviations (between 70 and 130).

Have you seen IQ test images ?

Like this, How many faces you find in this image?

or for example this Tree. try to found faces!

How many?

about the tree;

 If you found

 0 – 5 faces – Slow
 6 – 7 faces – Normal
 8 – 9 faces – Very Normal
 10 – 11 – Smart
 12 – 13 faces – Genius

ScrapBook

  ScrapBook 1.5.6

There are a lot of different ways to keep track of information you find on the Web.

You can copy it to the clipboard, then paste it into an empty document. There are services like that allow you to save your information to the Web. There are even web browser extensions,...

The problem with some of these, no matter how nice the service, is that they require you to create an account.,..

What is there for the person who just wants to store notes locally?

What if You want save only an image in a Web page? or save selection/ frame or innerframe in a Web page?

or what you do if want save all tabs in the window together?

or Highlight part of the web which is important to you to find it easily later.

or create sticky annotation,... you love the ability to put notations on a page (it helps remind of exactly why you wanted to save the page in the first place!),..

and the most useful point is that it also offers offline saving, so you can load up a bunch of interesting articles, and still have access to them even when you don't have Internet access.

Try ScrapBook

You need only to add it to your Firefox,... instal it,..

I try to say the steps:

1.  go to the link,   you can search it in google ,   be sure it be ScrapBook 1.5.6

2.   + add to Firefox      ->       install now       ->      restart Firefox

3.  click right on Menu Bar      ->       Customize..     ->  in customize toolbar find it's icon

4.  only need to drag   & drop it to Menu Bar

That's it,  start it;  click on its icon,  a page will show in sidebar     ->  Create folders to save pages

amazing Exam!

Related to: Writing challenge: Reflexive Pronouns

 10.January.2013

Today I had an exam , a multiple choice exam ( one which involve questions with a set of possible answers - only one of which is correct, while the others are distracters. The candidate is asked to circle or tick the correct answer to the question.)

It started at 11:00, we had 70 minutes to answer. I was ready for it, as I hit the book.

I read first question. To answer it I felt doubt between a and c at first sight, but I ticked a (let me say that in this type of exams, whenever I feel the slightest doubt about the correct choice, I only tick it and do not fill it fully, inverse whenever I'm sure about ,I would fill it boldly.) so I only ticked its A

then I read second question, the answer was A, I was sure, I filled it.

The third question, the answer was A

The forth one, the answer was A

The fifth one, the answer was A

The sixth, the answer was surly A

I smiled , -how interesting!! it was easy till now, seemed to me the test designer ,wanted to examine students, when I wanted to answer 7th question, I thought might this time be different, and it would not be A, but no,

the answer was A

next one 8th,answer? A

eh,9th, answer? IT WAS A , The 10th was either A, I told myself the next one must not be A by itself,I bet myself  '

BUT

It was as well A,

I looked at my answer sheet, I felt doubt, I called the exam carer, she came and I murmured:

-excuse me, I guess my paper has problem, could you please check it?!

she brought another question paper, gave it to me and told quietly, compare it yourself.

I glanced at the new exam paper, it was the same as mine! so I gave it back to herself and I knitted my eyebrows to show my surprise ,I looked at my paper to carry on my exam.

again and again all answers were A, I reached the 20th question, and answered it boldly ,I was SURE about the answer by itself, it was A ,I looked again at my answer sheet, how ? can be possible? am I doing wrong?

I was sure about myself and again called the carer.

-Excuse me, look at my answer sheet, I guess something wrong has happened and certainly all answers till here are A! while I held my breath.

she looked at my answer sheet, then a look at me, then she looked at the papers of the students who were sitting behind me, then moved her head and nodded to show No, she whispered in my ear:

-How it can be possible? Others are not answering the same. Be careful!

uh! really! what a shock her reply was to me!

BUT I am sure about my answers! I could not breathe! really! am I mistaking? am I dreaming! can all answers be the same? what this Exam is like? is it really probable, might the quiz maker himself wanted to play with us! I myself repeated all these in my mind.

I did not pay attention and continued to the end ( 30 questions ; all others were A), now I told  myself it had itself (exam) a problem.

Then as my habit, I started to review the paper and questions and answers, this time when I looked at first question, I filled  "A" strongly, I glanced the others all, they were correct in my vision. I put my pencil in pencil-case and set to leave the exam room ,I stood up, took my paper ,  I fixed my eyes upon my friend's paper, Uh she answered totally different. I told she herself answered  not correctly!

I smirked ; they done wrongly themselves!

I stared at the exam watcher's eyes. I smiled. she smiled back too. she looked at my answer sheet while I went to take my bag. I told myself while addressing her: you are yourself, do not laugh at me.

I laughed louder in my heart at myself and herself and who were trying to answer and at Who had planed such this amaZing Exam for themselves & ourselves.

"I laughed from my heart at myself and at her and those who were trying to answer , also at those who had planned such amazing exam for us."

18/February/2013

My dear Friends had asked me to share the result of this Exam.

my Memories

In the name of The Kind

1

writing memories is one which helps to improve language.

I'd like to record whatever I could.

Let me start from the first one which related to my acquaintance to EC.

I have a closed friend Yas. we were classmate for near two years, (about 6-7 semesters). we used to come back home with each other cause our home were located near to each.

One day while we were coming home, she talked about computer and the site which she had joined and its usage to practice English.

I didn't pay attention to her words. One day when she was in my home and we were after PC,  to check her university's schedules ,( and also learn me to use computer to connecting net, we had this system , but I had never tried internet) she opened EC and  encouraged me to join, and then signed up , made ID for me and told me to wait for approval.

I was a new member of Yahoo those day too, after about 5 days , I went on to check yahoo  eagerly, it was

Friday 28/ May/ 2010  I have received welcome from Nadiyah
