As you said, I know about Egypt by watching some cinemas and pictures. Piramid  is especially famous. However you say it is hard to live in there. I notice that I don't know real Egypt.

  • One Japanese event in May is the Flying Carp. Flying carps  are decorated in the bigining of May and they symbolize the hope for social success and health of young boys because a folk story said that  carps  could only go up a certain fall and so that they could become dragons.

  • A small part of my culture ...

The country I live in has a new beginning compared to many others ...
My founding fathers came here to have freedom to express freedom to worship the way they wanted to ...
We are made up of many different ways of life .

On July 4, 1776, the Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence drafted by Thomas Jefferson, proclaimed that all men are created equal, and founded a new nation, the United States of America
    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_United_States.

The United States population on July 4, 2013 was: 316,148,990
    From .. http://www.census.gov/popclock/

I live In the northern part of the country ..Michigan.
Here we have four distinct seasons . I will try to share the family culture I grew up with , and stress there are different ways of growing up in my country.

Before the new year begins ,( January 1st.) we have Christmas . A season of giving a season most children receive gifts they dream about . Please forgive me but some do not grow up with such fortune.
Welcome to my house , here we have a Christmas tree ,as a child we believe in Santa Claus . As a child we would look through the special Christmas catalogs ..and dream what Saint Nick would bring ...

The Legend of St. Nicholas. ( Santa Claus )
The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas. It is believed that Nicholas was born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Much admired for his piety and kindness.....http://www.history.com/topics/santa-claus

Our house is far out in the country so we do have the traditional Christmas carolers ,groups of people singing Christmas songs . This tradition is not as common today.

We have the tradition of a decorated Christmas tree in our house . Saint Nick leaves the presents we have dreamed about under its branches .Christmas morning we are not allowed to come downstairs until given the okay.
If there wasn't this rule we would wake up and catch Saint Nick at work ..
We have fruit ,nuts , candy ,and many homemade snacks , our table is full of all kinds if homemade treats ,cookies ,breads, fudge ,peanut brittle ...
The nuts are in the shell so we have grown up cracking the shelled nuts at Christmas time ...
My father decided to make our tradition different than many other households . He would not allow our mother to cook a big Christmas meal ... The children were allowed to eat treats, we were not forced to eat anything but what we chose .
Many other homes would have a big Christmas meal .. While we would have sloppy joes, hamburgers , hot dogs or some meal that was simple for mother to fix.

We were to excited with the toys and multitudes of delicious treats . To be forced to sit down to force our stomachs to eat more food ..
I hope you have enjoyed our Christmas Day ..
I have thought about what I could offer to this club .. All of you add such great stories .. I will try to add more as the seasons change .. I will be without a iPad for a short time so if you make a comment and I do not reply this is the reason.
I will miss my friends durning this time ... And I will attempt to improve on the stories ..
I left out so much ...
I would love to follow in the steps of Saint Nick.. Along with a visit to Myra.

Soon this year will end. I do not know if you have any customs for the last day of the year , but here, children are going to each house, wishing good things for the year that will come soon. They receive apples, nuts, cookies, money.

This custom has the name: Uraturi = wishes. It is a very , very old custom, passed form generation , to generation.

It brings luck to all of them who open their doors to children for receiving their wishes.

I will bring you one - for Good Luck in 2014
