Tara's Bookshelf

On the weekend I like to catch up on my reading. Can you believe I only have one bookshelf? (Plus one for my journals and two for kids' books.) I used to have many shelves for books, but I cut back on buying books because we move so much. These days I give books away (sometimes I leave them randomly around town) or read ebooks or go to the library. I can't get rid of my classics, though. Here are some books that will always be on my bookshelf no matter where I live.:Cat's Eye by Margaret AtwoodKingfisher Days by Susan CoyneIf you want to Write by Brenda UelandThe Artist's Way by Julia CameronThe Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullersOwen Meany by John IrvingAway by Jane UrqhartOur Vancouver 2010 ScrapbookWhich books will always be on your bookshelf?

  • Dear Tara, unfortunately, I haven't read any of these books. And, I don't have any books at my home. I left all my books in my home country and here, I haven't bought any since they are so expensive for me and I prefer to borrow them from the library. Recently, I got interested in spiritual books and sometimes read some novels. These days I am reading a book of Wayn Dyer, Excuse Be Gone...

  • @bullseye Thanks for your very interesting comments. You are an avid reader. Reading in English at an appropriate level is one of the keys to success.

  • found i didnt answer ur questions yet....i dont need bookshelves....i wanna throw the books away after finishing them....ewww...the knowledge has already etched in my brain....and is gonna turn into wisdom......
  • Tara. none of the books you listed i've ever read....im more hooked up on reading memoirs or autobiography....i've been this way as long as i can remember....very much like to know what the people are doing when they were my age...what their personal habits are...and how they got to where they were...and how they were fading away....etc....i guess im a little curious...now im reading tony blair's memoir -- a journey...that's available as an ebook and in audio..read by tony himself.....its good to know how the decisions be made in the international events he's been involved......nothing else because he's a politician....

i also like reading history....most of them are chinese....the society is never moving forward straight...its more like a wheel revolving forward....i find it fascinating...and im able to learn lots of experiences from the past and to help me make decisions.....ah! the joys of reading...

  • One of my bookshelves is full of all kinds of English books - grammar, novel, journal, etc.  I give away books, too. I just keep those I cherish most.
