A hudred years ago most people lived in such houses in rural areas, and even in the cities. Nowadays they are either monuments of the past or a fancy of some rich person.

No termites here. Besides, the wood is often tarnished. Those houses are warm in winter. This one is modernized - the real old ones had a roof of straw and didn't have a concrete basement.
