My potatoes and lettuce kept me busy today. The soil is black where I watered the potato plants. There are some small cabbage plants in the foreground of the photo.

  • Thanks everyone. It is really good soil because these mountains were all volcanos long ago. Also, I have found prehistoric stone tools and a very oxidized area from a fire which makes me believe the field has been in use for more than a thousand years.

    As for Colorado beetle, we don't seem to have it here. The one eating my leaves has a Japanese name which translates as Ladybird Trick. I guess that is because it looks sort of like a Ladybird or Ladybug. I will post a photo of it.
