Lieutenant Ralph exhaled excruciatingly slow; he had to be careful to not make a sound. The blackness of night camped the scene, filled with nocturnal animals eating or being eaten. The wooded park area was its own private patch of darkness surrounded by the city; here the air was scented with vegetation and moisture from early morning dew.It was by pure random unfortunate chance that this second level solider had come across one of the Imperium’s biggest targets. He inhaled, feeling his chest lift slightly from the soil he so desperately clung too, his six foot frame pressed as close as possible to the earth. He lifted one filthy hand to wipe away his unruly hair, leaving a grimy streak above his brilliant amber eyes. Through the bushes he watched the target; with its every movement his heart seemed to skip a beat. The young woman noisily exhaled, signaling her annoyance. Sent out here on some wild chase to find what’s probably just some fucking teenage kid, god damn it what did I just step in? She thought lifting her boot and inspecting the gooey mess now attached. The half moon rebounded brightly off her long blonde hair; her green eyes searched the area. There had been an alarm in this section of the city grid; reports of strange lights. Naturally lunatic minded and gullible believers were already reporting UFO’s; this was an issue as it couldn’t be risked, them searching the park. The young woman pulled a night vision monocle from her pocket, nothing new jumped to her attention. She stomped a few feet, rechecking her coordinates.Coolness began to creep in as the number one sensation for the Lieutenant, he knew she would sooner or later discover him. The snapping of leaves and twigs assaulted his ears as the target paced back and forth, searching into the night. Not for the first time did Ralph curse that his ability was limited to the creation of light. His command had sent him out to the park to search for another target, he’d been spooked by a jogger causing him to “light off” as a reaction. Suddenly his bodied stiffened, all his concentration went into muscular control, the urge to sneeze was incredible, so inviting he found it hard to forfeit. He silently prayed that no radio checks would be transmitted, he hadn’t expected this target, command had no way of knowing she was here. Cold, sliding sweat, stinging his eyes began to form and flow as the young woman moved his way.It was gods damn two something in the morning? Couldn’t a lower level be sent out? But noooo, that bitch Nixie had selected her to go and check the reports. These thoughts flowed through the woman’s mind as she decided on one last sweep of the area. There had been no sign, no indication that anything had happened out here, or that there was anyone even in the park. What was that? She could have sworn a sound, unwarranted by anything naturally here, had perpetrated the airways. Her radio began to buzz, a joyful, bubbly voice spilled out into the predawn world“Agent, have you found any cause for the light display?” These were spoken by Nixie the head techie. The young woman, ground her jaw, a sure sign that a major irritation entered her consciousness.“No, Nixie, It was probably just some teenage prank, I’m coming back in” her voice was solid, and distant, portraying the distaste in her mouth.“Sure thing, I’ll stay on coms till you return” the happy voice only earned the woman mentally thinking, you do that you slut, in condescending tones. She moved farther into the shrubs. This is it; I have to take her out. These panicked thoughts raced through Ralph’s mind, fear quickly replenishing the depleted adrenalin paths as the target moved closer. As swiftly and silently as his anxiety ridden body allowed he reached for the hand gun strapped to his back. He knew it was only a matter of moments until she strolled on top of him, he braced his body. Every muscle twitched and twanged crying out for release as he prepared to jump up an attack. Eight feet, six feet, four feet. He counted the distance waiting for the perfect opportunity.Suddenly a bright blinding flash attacked the woman’s pupils, the physical world was dashed from her vision to be replaced by a white screen. Instinctively her hand thrust foreword seeds which flew through the air exploding into long thick vines, quickly snaking around the silhouette she thought had appeared moments ago. A deep voice called out in shock in the night. Ralph was startled somehow she had worked her plants around his wrists, holding him in place, the handgun knocked uselessly to the ground. She blinked at him, his blinding technique wearing off, as he reappeared, at least in shadow form, two more of her vines wrapped around his ankles. The Lieutenant was forced to stand arms and legs outstretched, the vines tight pulling his body taught. The blonde looked at him instantly recognizing the enemy; she began to radio the discovery when he began to laugh.“Come closer plant bitch, lets see your face!” Ralph shouted masquerading a false bravado, his voice laced with insanity. He knew he was about to die, even if she let him go, he’d started a grenade before jumping up, the closer she was the better. The woman was obviously surprised at his reaction to his dire situation. She stepped closer, suddenly pausing the moonlight glinting off the grenade.“You little bastard!” she shouted at him, tacking quick steps back, only one solution presented itself to her. His screaming, spine chilling, pierced the air, every syllable like an apocalyptic death rattle. His limbs were pulled from each other, his body ripping into four quarters, guts beginning to drip form the opening wounds. At last the four parts of the previous Daemon body were flung through the air reaching their peak as the grenade exploded. The woman ducked under a tree branch as the cooked flesh and messy blood rained down on the park. Silence again flowed over the scene, she stood, waiting for a moment as the sounds of nature again presumed. She reached for her communications device.“Nixe? It wasn’t a teenage kid. I’ll be needing a clean up crew” she looked at the pieces of corpse, her veins now laying dormant on the ground, covered in the enemy. I wonder why he was out here. She pondered as Nixie began her reply back.

Arriving back in the hotel room he looked at Anya. An air of harshness radiated from her, an atmosphere of stone cold calculation. Her dark, black hair perfectly emphasizing her piercing blue eyes, she was one of those woman who left the impression of bird like features. Yet there was this incredible dark attractiveness about her, Hecter always thought it only made her scarier. A sort of Femme Fatal.“Did they come?” she didn’t look up, her body focused entirely on the severed arm in front of her, dissecting it.“Indeed, the uh foot soldiers were unfortunate causalities” Hecter knew Sonya wouldn’t care, low level Daemons meant nothing but fodder to her.“I take it from your inability to give me good news that both the Plant Bitch and Mr Ryder are alive and well” Still the same level tone, as she began to remove several large metal capsules from the arm. Hecter squirmed slightly not because of the dissection but because he knew she was highly vexed, even though her tone and manner hadn’t change. After years of knowing her he would swear he could feel the atmospheric pressure increase when she was pissed. He leant against a wall lighting a cigarette, noticing her already smoked one lying on the table.“If it helps the “Plant Bitch” is lightly singed” he smiled at the memory.Anya said nothing she merely proceeded to place the capsules into a padded suitcase.“So why did you insist on coming, I mean I could have brought you the arm and why the two foot soldiers?” Hecter was curious about this, yesterday morning he had been summoned, placed in a van with two low levels told what was going down and then Anya had hoped in. it had been worth being woken early to see the two soldiers almost wet themselves in fear. She didn’t answer for a moment, he took another drag he knew that she might just ignore him, her rank permitted it.“If the capsules aren’t removed correctly within an hour of the limb being severed their information becomes useless. I wanted to see what Ryder would make of the soldiers, but let me guess you got bored and burnt one whilst Miss Greenpeace strangled the other?” She turned around staring into Hecter’s eyes, he smiled back, steel eyes and dark features portraying no emotion but mild amusement. Perhaps that was why they were often partnered together, so few could actually stand her intimidation.“Actually her vines impaled him on some glass, is that light supposed to be blinking?” he pointed to a flashing bulb that had just started up on the wall.“No, the bulb means your smoking which is not allowed in the hotel room, it means someone will be up in a moment to tell you to stop” She sighed as she new he was about to make a smart arsed comment.“Been reading the rule book have we?” his Irish accent grated on her nerves when he spoke like that.“No Hecter I haven’t, please go fetch the bathroom things, we need to leave” Anya sighed again as there was a knock at the door.Harry was a four year hotel veteran, always with a smile for everyone and this morning when he had donned his shiny gold and red uniform he had expected a good day. Often he was sent to ask people to stop smoking since he was the most charming and enjoyed an opportunity to stretch his legs. He was surprised that room 15A was setting of the alarm, Clarke his co-worker for the day was meant to have already asked this particular room to have quit smoking. Harry made his way to the room only to be greeted by a pale skinned woman. He was used to angry smokers when he asked them to dash their butts, often they would be annoyed at being disturbed. However from the moment the attractive dark haired woman had opened the door, it had been different.. There was a sort of nonhuman stare about her like she was looking at a cow in an arbiter which had learnt a new trick. It said your amusing me at the moment but your still going to die.“Good afternoon Ma’am, I must apologize for interrupting you but one of the rules is no ” Harry was rather unnerved by this woman and cut his sentence short as she moved closer. As he was about to continue her hand shot out, wrapping around his throat, dragging him into the hotel room. A sort of silent, violent rage stifled the air, her face remained the same, she squeezed, fingers pressing firmly. Her hand was completely crushing his wind pipe, his face turning blue. Any thought of struggle seemed to be eclipsed by the utter terror filling his brain. Finally her fingers crushed through his flesh and bones, his head falling off.Hecter took a drag offering her a cigarette as he exited the bathroom. She took it and smoked, his head motioned to the toilet.“So the decapitated man in the loo is how you knew someone would be coming? You could have just told me not to light up” he was amused her solution to problems was simple, person in way, now corpse to step over. He noticed a twenty dollar note sticking out of the breast pocket and figuring the man didn’t need it now, took it for himself.“ I am mildly curious how many people they will send up. However we do not have time for fun experiments so grab the gear and let us depart” Anya’s unemotional attitude was a thing of wonder. Hecter grabbed the gear and they departed leaving a bloody trail

Take It Where You Can Get It

Laughter, so pure in its own enjoyment, flew through the airways, caressing the eardrums into sweet submission. It spoke of brighter emotions, of a superb freedom, so long ago abandoned to the War. The giver of this radiant noise was the Guardians head Techie, Nixie. She sat, leaning back in the control chair, surrounded by blinking lights and flashing monitors. From here she could reach every Agent, observe every base, control all their technology, it was a coveted position. The control room lights she had denied illumination, she was not alone tonight and the low glow given from her monitors would only help her cause.Lewis, genuinely grinned, something he rarely did now a days, the head techies splendid laughter reminded him of her laid back charming nature. She always had a joke, a flirtatious comment or simply an alluring smile to offer the Agents. Lewis had returned from a reconnaissance mission, one which had left his team mate severely injured, he didn’t want horror now, nor pain or sorrow, he just wanted to forget and think of blissful nothingness. The monitors picked out her red hair, offering a fiery glow, enticing to the tired daemons eyes.“So Lewis, don’t just lean on my door, god knows you’ll break it, been missing the gym lately?” Her voice was teasing, purposefully poking fun at him, she took in his large exhausted frame, his mud spattered field uniform, she knew he was looking for fun, for play. Nixie had witnessed on her screens the failed mission, the charred and burnt Agent falling down in front of Lewis, Lewis being unable to do anything. He was not the kind that enjoyed idle inaction as a comrade felt the burn and sting of the enemy’s wrath. However orders to remain hidden, safe, a coward, had been issued to him. He would be looking for uncomplicated euphoric vacancy of thought. This was confirmed as she locked glances with him, his brown eyes filled with an unspoken want.“I’ll have you know this is one hundred percent pure muscle on the finest specimen of maleness you are likely to find” his tone had that cheap confidence one distills in their voice when making a consciously ludicrous claim.“Hmm, has every other guy died off?” Her quip was a light jab, not intended to bruise his ego. He chuckled at her words, moving into the control room to lean against the computers, he was mildly entranced by Nixie’s amber eyes, they screamed of pleasure desperate to break out. She turned swiftly, facing her control console, pretending he wasn’t the center of her attention. Lewis’s fist’s tightened gently as he watched her chest rise and fall, her head held at a slight angle to mock an interest in the computers whilst still observing him. This scene had been played out time and time again, different partners, same technician, she had watched a thousand grizzly scenes on her screens, this was the only way to momentarily forget.“Have I mentioned how nice your top looks?” the banter wasn’t awkward just a tiresome necessity, he faked realism into his words. What he truly felt would have been most peculiar to announce, this wasn’t love, this wasn’t true wanting of the other, it was simply their form of drug. Like the alcoholic too depressed with life goes and chugs another bottle, or the heroin addict so overcome by pain inserts another needle, these two so encumbered by reality would strip and become one flesh, soliciting temporary escape.Nixie stood, she had witnessed an Agent almost die, fire burning over half his body, he would probably perish later that night, she could barley think about it and it would be a thousand times worse for Lewis who had been forced to remain inactive during the incident. She knew neither of them was in the mood to waste precious nullity of thought on pieces of cloth. She moved swiftly too him, her five foot six frame dwarfed by his extra twelve inches. He bent instinctively having been seduced by the mere thought of her presence. The moment their lips touched the world melted into a far away ball of unreality.Only senses existed now, not thought, want, or need, just exquisite unadulterated ecstasy. The only noise was the thundering of heart beats in a rapid stampede competing against each other and the soft moans of pleasure derived from the players’ secret release. The scents of each other, one earthy and smoky from the field the other sweetened by perfumed, entwined creating a nasal symphony. Sight was an equation taken hostage as both daemons closed tight their eyes, to heighten the feel of the other. Warmth spread between the yearning bodies, the rough skin of an Agent perfectly complimenting and exciting the soft flesh of a Techie. There was no War here, only its escape.
