you are right to some extend...the first part of your answer can be an indirect result of the direct answer...i mean not to waste your time studying for long hours while you can master over the material in a shorter time...it is the result of quality study..
this question was raised by one of my nice English teachers and was answered by himself...

according to my teacher and elaborated by me,quality study is described this way;
when you wanna study efficiently,you should CONCENTRATE on the material you wanna master...in order to concentrate fully , you have to be in peace, far away from any kinds of distractors...for example you can lock yourself in your room or another place you think is suitable for studying..don't let anyone call you or come in...no noise,no distractors,no TV,etc...a peaceful environment which provides your mind with a soft and ready land to plant materials skillfully so that winds and passing of time won't destroy its root...
if your mind is busy with some distractors,simply go out for a walk...with a busy mind full of dreams and distractors your seeds will be easily washed away in a splitting second...

CONCENTRATE is the key word for QUALITY study...
