why to learn languages

Here in schools of big cities, pupils of 9 or 10 years old begin to learn English. The main subject include Chinese, maths, English. However, now, after i started my English for 12 years, i am kinda confused. Many of my schoolmates, both boys and girls, both good and poor at english, have given up all their english, which means they don't use english in life at all, no movies, no english speaking, only some english songs.

1. Why do you learn english?

2. why do you learn foreign languages (excluding english)?

for me, english is compulsory stuff for my study. i used to like learning english but now not that much.

and other languages, for interest only though it can be hard to learn new words and grammar. But it is fun to do that.

have a nice day guys. take care. if anybody interested in chinese/ chinese culture/ cantonese, plz feel free to contact me.

  • Hi Wing,

Spanish children also begin at that age to learn English, so nowadays is usual young people can speak it and I totally agree so that humans could have a common language.

In my case is not neccesary for my job, I just learn it for fun but it's really useful when I travell.

Btw, thanks for sharing your photos, I like China very much so as its culture, I guess it's so different to western, isn't it? Hope next time I visit Asia I'll go there :)
