Bicycling in your hometowntown.

Please tell here how it is like to cycle in your Hometown. Do you recommend it, or do you recommend it only to suicidal ones? Do u have usable bicycle lanes/ roads in your Hometown. Can you leave your bicycle without being afraid of thievery. In my Hometown even though it's a town of a university, I'm afraid, I can't recommend cycling here, but it's not 100% suicide. There are built some bicycle roads, but they aren't very usable.Actually it seems like most of these bicycle roads here are just build as for electioneering. Bicycles seems to be hatted by everyone. Car drivers don't want them to roads and also footers don't want to sacrify any inch of pavement to them.

  • Thank you for sharing nadira. :)

I think only consolation is that I'm not alone, there's thousands of bicyclers all ower world who have troubled by unfavorable traffic.
It doesn't matter if there are cycle lanes or not, because cycle lanes, are build in the interests of cars, not for the good of the cyclists(to keep bicycles away from the street and to leave street lanes solely for cars)
I found a collection of photos of stupid cycle lanes from flicker.

  • my adopted hometown is northwest of srilanka...yes it has its natural beauty and quaintness, but cycling being safe on the roads i must say its suicidal especially to a beginner. the roads are menace , we have three wheel scooter scooting on it s own speed . the cars buses reckless so imagine where the cycle lover could cycle enjoyig the paranomic view of the lagoon....
