Andrea Buslfield a british journalist a lived for several years in Afghanistan, an experience that helped her write the novel Born Under A Million Shadows.

 

The novel tells the story of modern life in Afghanistan, through the eyes of a young boy named Fawad. Like many Afghan children, he is fatherless and works on the streets of Kabul to help his mother. Facing homelessness, Fawad's mother takes a job as a housekeeper, and he suddenly finds himself living in an expatriate home

 

Serdar Özkan was born in Turkey in 1975. Though « The missing rose » is his first novel, it has been translated in more than 4O diffirent languages and became a best seller. After Orhan Pamuk, Serdar is now the turkish novelist the most read around the world.

 

This is the story of Diana a young woman whose desire for the approval and praise of others has made her let go of her own dreams and values. Her mother's deathbed confession that Diana has a twin sister calls her to a mysterious journey−a journey to a wondrous rose garden in Istanbul where she will be invited to converse with the roses.

  • Hello M.Adaway, thanks for your interest to my post, but i do not really agree with your comment. Though the book talks about life in Afghanistan, it's not politic, it's more about how a little 9 years old boy sees how life goes in his country. It's a wonderful story, really.
