Please correct me if I am wrong but.. I've found in Lingvo Universal dictionary that "arable" means:
arable adj.
- (of land) being or capable of being tilled for the production of crops
- of, relating to, or using such land arable farming
- arable land or farming
• Etymology: from Latin arābilis that can be ploughed, from arāre to plough
and it doesn't refers to anything Arab.
And in Lingvo Politechnical dictionary I've found that "arable numerals" (exactly "numerals", not "numbers" or "digits") means Arab numbers. Why it's so? Don't you know?
