I have not spent a lot of time here, still I have witnessed so much drama on MyEC. That made me think about…Do people stop making difference between their real and virtual life at some point? Are people able to distinguish virtual world from physical (real) one? Are these two things /virtual and  physical worlds/ separable at all nowadays? Do people really get so deeply attached to their so called virtual friends that they stop considering social media as a place for fun and start taking it too seriously? Probably the answers of these questions will show us why people who we’ve met on social media get kinda touchy sometimes….just probably.

What is your perspective, guys? How do you consider all this Internet World? Have you ever been involved in a virtual drama?

Thanks in advance for stopping by!

  • Why live a virtual life when the is so much of a  reality around.  I never get fooled by virtuality and I don't believe in such virtual friendships. Yeah,  you can use such imaginary world for learning or chit chattin but keep aside your emotions, attachments and feelings. For me these virtual world are the root of damaging our relationships. People prioritise their imaginary/virtual friends over their family members, for them living a fiction is worth than realistic life . Socialising never meant to live a doll's life andcreating a world of your own when all that you find at the end of the day is; it was nothing but a dream within a dream.

  • Okay, but that's Risty Aven's line, not mine. Anyway, thanks for focusing our attention on IF-clauses, they are tricky sometimes, aren't they?

Dear Emma, I meant IF-clauses for sure. Here is one of them

"if I will leave, I will flood my private messages to people that I’m leaving after that I will"

I saw one more but can't find it  now

Wow, I thought conditional clauses were only if-clauses. So, I learnt something new today. Thanks, Tanya!

Well, as a teacher I have to add the following:

Please, don't use the future tenses in the conditional clauses!

    Virtual vs Real life....or 2 in 1?

  • Hi, dear Emma! It is a very nice discussion! Thank you!

I agree with those who take the virtual world seriously. Everything we read here is written by real people with real feelings and emotions. The longer you stick before the screen, the more attached to others you become. You start considering them as your true friends. The virtual world is the same as the real one. We don't get rid of our emotions touching the keyboard. Everything is just opposite, we give way to those feelings we don't usually demonstrate in real. So, dramas are unavoidable here as well as in the real life and some events really hurt while others make our day.

Well, as a teacher I have to add the following:

Please, don't use the future tenses in the conditional clauses!

  • So...you are serious type of person, huh? Hmmm, good to know that :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    good point and discussion, Emma..

To me, I have never considered it as a place for fun and spending time in a way that is irresponsible... I know that it can be separable from physical world from many points of views.. but I have been taking my actions and reactions so seriously since I joined virtual world before 6 years.

I like the definition 2 in 1.. I think it suits me :)

    Thanks for the nice discussion.

  • Dear Rose,

Finally I found an answer that suits me. I agree with the line "Sometimes is it not bad to speak with someone who isn't involved in our daily life. They have a neutral and impartial view." I thought I'm the only one weirdo in universe when I came to online site in moment I got problems. Sometimes I prefer to share with virtual people because I think, they will give me an objective view of my problems. Believe or not, I asked more than a virtual person to get a conclusion of my problems. I always count on their opinions, also my real friends.

    Nice comment, Rose!

  • Risty Aven, it seems like you've got experience with virtual drama...The only thing I can tell is: everything happening in our life teaches us a lesson, it depends on us if we will use what we've learnt wisely :)

Luci, nice to have you in this discussion. Well, I didn't say there is something wrong about exchanging opinions, contrary, I'm always glad when I see someone else's perspective. As to me, I have not been so active member of MyEC, but I've been one on another social media, so being kinda attached to virtual people is not unfamiliar to me :)

  • Dear Ema..

I would say the less you are online and not attached to virtuality, the harder it is for you to understand how come people are too emotional over the internet with those they have never seen face to face...
Anyway, if you make online friends after some time they will be closer and closer to you ...as you get to know them better and better - so you simply will fight for them as if they were standing next to you :D
People should discuss things, should communicate and various people have variois opinions, so what's wrong about exchanging opinions?
