Are Egoists Any Use?

Egoism is considered to be one of the worst possible traits of character. The first question I'd like to ask you is this: what is the relationship between egoism and happiness? My second question is whether a person's egoism can ever produce good results for other people?

    • Maybe you're right, dear Nandor C! But I still think that introverts (it seems that introversion and egoism naturally go together ) are happier people then other ones. I mean those people who turn their attention and their activities towards the outside world as compared with egoists who usually concentrate on their own thoughts and feelings.

    • I was thinking about your comment....and maybe I've changed my mind a little bit.

And I've come to the conclusion that egoism can produce good results for other people... Great scientists or artists may do much more for humanity if they concentrate only on their work and their OWN needs and are completely blind to the needs and wishes and happiness of the people around them.....

  • Thanks for your reply. I agree with you that sometimes egoism is very useful. Maybe egoists are the happiest people in the world. Don't you think so?

    • But when you're an egoist, you don't need other people. You don't seek their love, attention... You don't suffer from their pains and problems.... You are interested in nobody and nothing but only you.....the most important person in the world....
