Writing Prompt: Similar but not same

A vein of sadness runs through his words. He felt his veins and tried to cut them off. Danim had a wish to study and research on Venus and explore few places like Venice, Nepal and Naples. He wanted to visit Greek, it was important for him but he felt impotent himself in-front of his father. His father was against his tour to Greek but with the magical use of potent words he convinced his father. In the backyard he found an old torn book with some patents signed by a Greek writer.

  • Venus: It is the second nearest planet to the sun and its surface is extremely hot.
  • Venice: A port in North East Italy, built on over 100 islands and mud flats.
  • Nepal: A kingdom of South Asia, the world's only Hindu kingdom.
  • Naples: A port on South West Italy, founded by Greek's in 6th century.

By using some words given by Expector Sir I tried to write the Writing Prompt.

Looking forward to the corrections of seniors.

  • Expector Sir, I am extremely sorry if any of my comment offended you or made you feel like I disagree with you. Your corrections are really important for me, I learn many things from your corrections and I will look forward for the corrections in my upcoming blogs too.

    Thanks Sir. :))

  • @Anah

Don't get me wrong - you did a good job and used all the words I recommended. I was trying to remind anyone who was trying to take this writing prompt (similar but not same). Just as you can see, I enjoy blogs about words similar but not same. Sometimes you can find many words that are similar but not same, but some of them may not be used so often. If there are so many unfamiliar words in a blog, then it will be so hard for other members to read.

Thanks for the quick reply. Keep up your great work.

  • Sure Expector Sir, I will try my best. But in this blog I have used the words you gave me to write on as a challenge. :))

Thanks I will be more careful next time.

  • How about this pair:

    freeze - breeze

Tip: Try to include the words which are used and confused frequently - it may not be a good idea to use so many unfamiliar words  in a blog like this.

  • Okay I will be more careful with punctuation and correct usage of words Expector Sir.

hmm but it gives spelling error when I write it without a dash, hmm I should work on that too Noa. :)

  • Nice! I think in your sentence "but he felt impotent himself in-front of his father", maybe it should be written as "but he felt impotent in front of his father"

  • Great job!

    Re corrections:

    1. "...explore few a few places..."  -- "few" can be so tricky. You should have used "a few" (meaning "some") instead of "few".

    2. Let's work on this sentence "He wanted to visit Greek, it wasimportant for him but...". You could use a period (full stop) after Greek, and "It" instead of "it". Or you could use "which" instead of "it". Be careful how to connect two sentences.

  • Lol Luci, well thnks :)

  • Nice try anah and btw when I read he felt impotent in front of his father...firstly I was kinda shocked, laughing and then I looked up another meaning of this word. You know I knew it only as a word related to men's sexual activity or better to say passivity :D
  • The word Vein and Patent are really diffucult to use , I mean its really tricky to use these words in sentences one has to be very keen in using them.

I wrote this challenge and, still bit nervous and confued about their proper usage.
