The Land of My Birth is Kalyan. Kalyan is a small city of India. Many people don't know about my city because it is smaller than big cities like Mumbai and Kolkatta. I like the land of my birth because I put first step on this land and my journey started from here. This land is a witness that how many times I falls and how my knees got hurt and how I grow. Few years back Kalyan didn't have big buildings, and highways and shops. But in these days my city has improved a lot.

Kalyan is a kind off village according to me because here many people have their own farms and buffalo houses. Everyday in the morning I hear the voice of Cock crowing. Squirrel runs with her furry tail around my house. Pigeons and sparrow sits at window. Gulmohar (flame) Tree is near to my house which is pleasant in the season of summer.

In kalyan city you can find people from different states. My neighbours are from Utterpradesh, Chennai, Tamilnadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra. I can speak Hindi language fluently because of my neighbours. Here are lots of temples, churches, Masjids. Here are people are from different religions like Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Boudhist.

Only one thing I don't like about my city is that it doesn't provide any jobs. I used to travel by trains and buses around  4 hours everyday regarding job.

If you will ask someone why do you like your mother then your answer would be she gave me birth, she gave me life, she is my mother that is why I love her. Exactly the land of my birth, kalyan is like to my mother because I am in her protection, I am here with my friends and family. She gave me culture, nature and peace. I love my India and I love my city Kalyan.

  • @Tara: I changed the sentence.

  • Thanks for joining this month's writing challenge! I'm really enjoying all of these posts about towns and cities from around the world. I love how you described Kalyan's maternal characteristics. It's too bad that so many nice places in the world are located far from the city. Hopefully telecommuting will become more popular in the future.

Re corrections: Can you fix these two words?
Many people don't know about my city because it is too small compare to Mumbai and Kolkatta, ect.

English Tip: "a lot" is two words - But in these days my city has improved alot  a lot.

  • That's great!

  • @Nakshatra

Yes, you got it. To make it even clearer, you could put it this way: Only one thing I don't like about my city is that it doesn't provide any jobs.

  • @Expector Smith: You are brilliant. I was stuck in that sentence for a while and you caught me well. I tried to write. should i write like.. Only one thing I don't like about my city is not providing jobs.
