Our world has seven continents. Each continent is unique and distinct on its own. Do you know which continent you belong to?  Well… I, Robbie, of legal age, belong to the Asian continent. Mabuhay! I’m from the Philippines and my country is located in South-East Asia. Risty is a Filipina and works in the United Arab Emirates. I’m glad I have Asian friends. Onee is one of them and she’s from Indonesia. Kal is a thoughtful friend from Sri Lanka. She always likes to send wonderful e-cards on my page. I also have some Indian friends and a sister from Vietnam.

Have you been to Europe? Our Englishclub’s founder, Sir Josef, is from the United Kingdom whereas Mary and Estanis are from Spain. ¡Hola mi amigo y amiga! Did you know our new Miss Universe is from Europe, too? She’s from France. Vive le France! One of the sweetest ladies on MyEC is from London. How about Luci? She’s from the Czech Republic. Our feisty gal is an opinionated English enthusiast. I miss our Greek gal and the fabulous airport security personnel from Baku, Azerbaijan.

On the other hand, Australia is another continent, but it’s also a country. In fact, it’s the sixth largest country in the world. The Australian continent consists of the mainland Australia, New Zealand as well as different small countries such a Vanuatu, Fiji, Palau and so on. How about Africa? It’s the second largest continent in the world. According to the experts, this continent has a diverse language and culture. By the way, our former video moderator is from Egypt.

Do you know what countries belong to the North American continent? Obviously the United States is one of them along with Mexico, Panama and other Latin nations. Canada is the largest country in North America. I’m grateful to meet my uncle from Alberta! The Caribbean, a region consists of different islands, is also a part of North America. I wonder what my Dominican Republic friend is doing lately.

Are you from South America? This is another interesting continent. It’s also known as the Latin America because most countries belong to this group are Hispanics (Spanish). Meanwhile, Brazil is the largest country in this continent and its spoken language is Portuguese since it was colonized by Portugal. I hope my Brazilian friends are doing perfectly well. Bom dia!

Lastly, before I forget, the seventh continent in the world is Antarctica. Have you ever been there? If so, how did you manage to live in a temperature that’s below freezing? Living there must have been a pickle considering the limited supply of food, services (especially the Internet) and ludicrous weather condition. I heard the community there is called McMurdo. But it’s nice to know that this continent is a home for the killer whales.

Oh, look at the time! I gotta go now, I must return to the real world before someone steals my thunder. Thank you for joining with me in our tour around the globe. LOL :)

There you have it! Which continent do you belong to?

  • Hello, Valentina!

I couldn't agree more! The Internet and social media have made more great friendships regardless of our culture, faith and color. They brought people closer to each other too. By the way, you reminded me of an Ukrainian teacher here who's very supportive and lovely. I hope you'll find plenty of interesting learners in our club.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my blog. I truly appreciate it!

    Cheers!

    Robbie :)

  • Hi, Robbie! It's exciting to realize we have friends on different continents of our small planet. Some of them are welcoming a new dawn while others are admiring the starry skies or watching peacefully their night dreams. Some are doing their daily jobs, others are going to fetch their children from school. At the same time... Well, it isn't as that small, our planet:)

  • Hello, Icha!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I agree with you. We're Asian neighbors! You have a wonderful country and our language has a bit of similarities with pronunciation. I'm glad you have a Filipino colleague that you could ask about my country and vice versa.

By the way, I highlighted some of the initial letters of some countries here and its articles as a practice for proper capitalization of proper nouns. Besides that, I loved geography back in high school and I used to draw the map of some countries and its flags. It's always interesting to learn about the country's history and its location in the world map. Over the years, there are some additional countries written in almanac especially the ones that achieved its independence. :)

I'm grateful that you found this blog interesting. Thanks again for commenting!

    Cheers!

    Robbie :)

  • Hi Robbie,

What you wrote actually recalled me about the lesson of Geography that I got when I was in school. And I thank you for that, because I almost forget about the amount of continental itself hihihi….It seems my memory in my brain need more spaces to save the new things so that’s why the old memories would be erased automatically :p. You explained well about some of the member of MyEC well whom I haven’t know them in detail. Thanks once again for you.

I am from Indonesia wherein one of the South East countries in Asia Continent as you. We have the same characteristics of cultures, foods, climatology and so on. Just want to inform you that one of my colleague at my office is coming from Philippine. The some words of our native language is having similarities such us paying=umbrella, ubi, etc.

You know after reading your blog, I tried open the globe paper which is put in my notebook and then observed it one by one of those continental based on your explanation, it looks like foolish, but it was funny. It brought me to the past when I was in school and refreshed again my knowledge about continent particularly.
