Hello my dear friends,As you all know, that Eyesight ( & hence healthy eyes ) is a precious gift from God. Vision starts to fade as a person becomes old, and almost all people have some type of eye problem during their life time. So I've decided to share with you the 7 Secrets To Keep Your Eyes Healthy ! as a part of Tara Benwell's Writing Challenge #25 !

7 Secrets To Keep Your Eyes Healthy !1. Have an eye check up at least once in a year ! Do you know that, if you wear corrective contact lenses and glasses, which are no more suitable for your eyes, you'll end up with severe headaches, and further eye damage.

Also if you have some kind of vision problem, it might progress, if you don't seek professional help. So hurry up, and consult your eye specialist.2. Protect your eyes from sun ! Do you know, that too much exposure to sun's ultraviolet rays can result in serious damage to your eyes.So what's the solution? In summer, when you go outside in the sunlight, always wear sunglasses or tinted lenses that carry UV400 mark.

3. Eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables ! You need vitamins and minerals to keep your eyes healthy. Vitamins of the antioxidant group can prevent, or at least slow down, some age related vision problems.

Vitamins C, A and E, folic acid, selenium and zinc are very good for your eyes, to keep them healthy. Broccoli, spinach, sweetcorn, orange and yellow peppers, kiwi fruits, oranges and mangoes are a very good sources of these vitamins and minerals.4. Stop smoking ! Do you people know, smokers are up to three times more likely to develop cataracts than non-smokers! another good reason to quit!

5. While reading, writing, or working on computer, make sure that light is RIGHT ! Do you know, that not only poor light, but also the light, which is too bright, can damage your eyesight !So during the day, try to use daylight, instead of artificial light, by keeping your blinds down, on all sunny days, if possible. This will also result in less electricity bill!

Also make sure, that light must come from the side of your face, not from front or behind of your head. You can also decrease the brightness of your monitor.6. Give a healthy break to your eyes ! Take short, frequent breaks from the computer to prevent eyestrain and tiredness. Even if you don't get up, an 'eye break' - when you look away from the screen and focus on objects at varying distances will help.

7. Keep your contact lenses clean! If you wear contact lenses, you need to take good care of them. It's not too difficult. Every time you use your contact lenses, rinse them with a good solution.

  • Hello, Nida!

Nida, may I ask you? Would you like be a doctor (practicing physician)? It seems, this is a good idea! How do you think? You are very careful about people, clever, kind! You can be a great doctor!
I wish you success in your life!
  • Great blog dear Nida! Every secret is very important for our eyes. I am wearing glasses as my vision is rather low, and when I was pregnant I passed full test about my eyes and doctor told me that I had some problems with them and should have a laser correction. Before that I hadn't have such a full test, I usually had check in an optics. So I suggest people with a low eyesight to have an eye check up at least once in a year . Thank you for the information!

  • So sorry I missed this! What a great post. Eye health is so important. I wish I had known these secrets when I was younger (especially the sunglasses part). I've treated my eyes terribly in the last ten years. Eyes are such a gift.

Fantastic writing. Again, I'm really sorry I missed this.
