You probably learned the question words in English classes. They are sometimes called called the "Wh" words, to help students remember them.

Who,   what,   when,  where,  why and how are often called question words and most of them begin with the letters "wh".

Which of these words is your favorite and why?

Can you think of any other words that are usually found in questions?

I tell my students to look at the question word before they choose an answer on a test. If the question asks "when" they should find an answer related in some way to time. If a question asks "who" or "where", my students are supposed to look for answers with someone or some place in them.

This is very simple, but sometimes students are tricked by answers that sound good, but distract them from the correct answer. If we look closely at the question we can usually predict the correct answer.
