What's wrong with the airplane

Just in one week, we lost three planes in Ukraine, Taiwan, and Mali, and hundreds of lives were lost immediately. The safety of planes is now the major concern of people around the world. I wonder if it's still the safest way to travel by air - though there are always plane crashes, the airplane/aeroplane/plane has been considered as safest way to travel.

Why are people so concerned about the safety of planes? Thanks to planes, the world is now seen as a village - people can travel from one country to another so easily by air. I can't imagine a world without planes - you can take the train or bus if you take a short trip, but what if you need to travel to another country that is far away from where you live?

Then, who is responsible for the safety of planes? Lives mustn't be allowed to lose so easily - actions must be taken to protect the lives on the planes. Do you think so?

    Thanks for the comment. You really have a point there. Yes, most of the time, the tragedies may have nothing to do with the planes themselves - there may not be any mechanical failures. It's hard to believe that so many flights have been shot down - it seems you can shoot down a flight and won't be punished for that. Bad weather and terrorist attacks are also causes for concern.

    @Ohnie

    Yes, it seems you never know when a tragedy will happen - a sea voyage isn't a good idea either. You really need some luck just living in this world.

    @Faraz

    Yes, you can say that again. Sometimes your hands are tied and you are so helpless. Pray before your flight sounds like a good idea and may be the only thing you can do. Let's pary for a new safer means of transportation!

    @MaYa

    Good idea! Yes, maybe we don't need to fuss over such things - such things do happen! Pretending that everything is fine and hope for the best.

    @Caro

    Yes, the safety of flights may be such a major concern, but you may still need to go by air if you want to travel from place to place.

    @WMR

    Yes, these things happen - maybe we should get used to tragedies.

    @Luzzi

    Thanks for the comment! I wonder if we can invent sothing new and safer. Let's wait and see.

    @angel

    Sorry to hear that. Let's pray for him!

    while i was reading ur blog ..i remebered a teen age pakistani-american pilot, haris suleman, who died when he was just about to complete his world circle in his single engine small plane with his father......unfortunately his plane crashed n fell in sea last week.

    he was working for noble cause..raising funds for welfare schools, free education for poor students, in pakistan..

  • I have to admit that it is really weird coinscidence but looking back ..twice it was about bad weather and once the plane had nothing to do in such dangerous zone since others avoided it. Anyway, it is sad that hundreds of ppl died like this and for sure many ppl will doubt now if such way of transport is good choice. High time to invent sth else ..
  • People lost confidence to travel by air due to the last events0

    I agree with Faraz, we have just to pray!!

  • i dont know what to say about this but maybe some people will think that it isnt safe to have a flight nowadays, they'll surely think that their lives will be endangered if they do. maybe the best is we can do is not to think too much or be a paranoid or something and just think that all will be okay and we can safely go places we want to. nice blog expector :D

  • I can't imagine traveling abroad by ship especially when we are in a hurry. Of course luxury cruises are different. Anyways, it seems that nothing is safe anymore. We just have to be more prepared and vigilant as much as we can. I don't get why some people think that life is disposable just like a dirty diaper.
    Thank you for bringing up this important topic, Doc!
  • All were great tragedies indeed!

    Well, we can't raise the question of safety of airplanes because they didn't crash because of some technical errors or pilots' faults. Two were shot down and one crashed because of bad weather. This problem could be managed by allowing the planes to travel only on safe routes and there shouldn't be any flights when weather is bad. It always amazes me when flights get cancelled because of bad weather and people become angry. They probably don't know that it's better to be late than never.

    As far as taking the responsibility is concerned, governments/those occupying the certain area of land must be responsible for the safety of flights traveling through their countries/areas' airspace.
