What is your favorite dish?

My fellow Women EC members!
I ask you to tell about your favorite dish,or the one you cook often.

The idea of putting this question up came to me during I was preparing the meal for today.
I was wondering, what other women might prepare for dinner or lunch for their families at the other parts of the globe.

You can add here your favorite dish, and the recipe of it,with the method how it is prepared. It can be an easy one,or the food your family prefers.
It'll be interesting to share meals of other cultures with each other.
P.s:If you are a man,and you can explain how your favorite food is made(by your wife,or yourself),don't hesitate to put down here, please
Everybody is welcome!....

  • Hi Gunawan!
I can smell its spicy scent.Must be very delicious!I miss just one ingredient here:the lemongrass!
    It's a shame,I unable to find fresh lemongrass!I have dry,but it's not the same.
Thank you for sharing this Curry with us,maybe I'll give it a try!
  • Hi Monika, I couldn't find Soto recipe yet, however I've found the recipe for this curry. It also uses turmeric and thus its colour is yellow.

Well, I think you need to taste this Curry at least once before you can make it by yourself. Since you couldn't taste it, at least for now, I put this little picture of it (use your imagination hehe :))

(note: this image is not a courtesy of mine, so it has "Agungsari" printed on it)

    Curry (Indonesian style)
    8cups Water
500gr Fat Beef / Chicken or 1Kg Crab (Ayam / Daging / Kepiting)
    14gr Garlic (Bawang Putih)
    14gr Shallot (Bawang Merah)
    4gr Red Chilli (Cabe Besar)
    5gr Lemon Grass (Sereh)
    3gr Ginger (Jahe)
    5gr Turmeric (Kunir)
    3gr Galangal (Laos)
    1gr Coriander (Ketumbar)
    1gr Pepper (Merica)
    4gr Candlenut (Kemiri)
    2cups Coconut Milk
    Salt

    Shortcut Direction:
Grind all the spices above, then fry a few seconds.
Boil 500gr beef/chicken (or 1Kg Crab) -can be added with tofu- with 8 cups water until tender (until 3cups water remain in the pan). Add the 'Fried-Grinded-Spices' above, re-boil with 2 cups of Coconut Milk, stir well until medium-thickened over low heat.
Serve warm with sprinkle of shallot flakes.

  • Gunawan: Your English is excellent. You never need to apologize for your level of English here. And like Monika said, communication is the most important part. It was easy to understand your description. Thanks!
  • My husband does most of the cooking. He made lettuce wraps the other night with ground turkey, crispy noodles, and sweet Thai chili sauce. We wrapped them in kale and topped them with sesame seeds. Yum.
This is my favourite dessert recipe: http://edition.englishclub.com/esl-magazine/piece-of-cake/
