Unmotivated and passive students

They are everywhere in every classes, sitting somewhere doodling on their notebooks. And when you call their names it seems the worst in the world to them. Why are they in the class then? Why are they there if they do not want to study? Are they under pressure of their family? What can be done? And you name it...Phew...So bored...How can you motivate them? That is the 6,000,000 Dollar question.

  • Hi Alizera,
I know that kind of student. They seriously want to gain knowledge from the class but they are so shy to participate in (Asian people often make this mistake). Besides, they are afraid that they can not answer correctly the professor's questions.
From my point of view, there is a way to motivate them. The professor should encourage the student to answer as much question as possible. Once the student has a correct answer he will be more confident to take part in other activities of the class.
    Sweet dream
  • Good questions. But these things happen. If they knew how vital the subject is! One could run more fast if they know a tiger is chasing and trying to catch them.
