To whom it may concern,

I have been the recipient of an impolite comment. Once. Big whoop! Who hasn't? It happens, hey sticks and stones, right? We all are grown-ups here (minus some of our cute and adorable members who have not entered the astonishing(?) world of adulthood yet), and we know that adults swear. Boy, do they swear! Sometimes it just feels right, you know? But the fact of the matter is that MyEC is for learning and teaching English. A step by step guide to swearing is not the priority here; ergo, the moderating option. It's not just the swearing, though. There are numerous factors that should be considered, here.
There are a lot of ways for anyone who does have the urge to use 'language'. I prefer it not to be on my blogs. However, constructive criticism is always welcome.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but I'm glad that this option is available. Please spare me the freedom of speech talk. Some members here decide to moderate for whatever reason they believe in. Mine is those enthusiastic and wide-eyed learners who are still wet behind their ears. Imagine their surprise when they read a comment that makes Jules Winnfield proud!

P.S. I need to reiterate that my previous blog entry was not an IQ test and/or a brain teaser or whatever. It was simply a comparison between kids and adults' reasoning process. While some grown-ups (myself included) focus on the problem and its puny details (e.g., the shape of that bus), kids try to find the solution.

P.P.S. I appreciate all the comments and likes, though.

Thanks a million!

  • Again with the candy-coating, huh? Thanks. When it comes to swearing, I'm not an expert. ;) I don't get the "*stops writing ...*" part, though. Accent on "stops writing". Who's stopping here? :/

  • *stops writing the step by step guide to swearing* ahh flippin' heck! :D

  • Thanks for your support. I will! :D

  • Yes, that attitude is good. But, you were born brilliant so that's not your fault. :) Even if you hide that, it will show... honestly, from the time you started posting your blogs I have felt how you have adjusted your writings to what the members really want to see on your blog. :) so, no worries... just move on...

    All the best. :)

  • Dear setareh! I've got nothing to hide. The only reason I do this is because I feel obligated to be a responsible member here. Actually, I was not insulted. Not at all! You know better than me that some of MyEC's members are children. They are still innocent and I prefer they not to be exposed to that aspect of English any time soon. :]
Thanks, dear. I'm flattered. You are an amazing lady. I really enjoy reading your lovely comments.

  • Dear ⓔⓡⓩⓐ! Thanks for your kind words. I'm really glad that you got my point. I'm thrilled that my blogs make learning fun; this way I'd know my efforts will eventually pay off. Once again, thank you, You are the best. Big hug.

  • Dear A7, It's not my business why you moderate the comments. The important point is that as far as i concerned your posts are all great. I truly enjoy reading them. It's so great to have people like you who are just good at writing otherwise people like me would ruin the English writing skill. No matter what some impolite people would say, there are also people like me who are grateful to have you here. Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks dear, but I do Not want to to look like a know-it-all. As you mentioned sometimes our ideas might be misunderstood. I like to make my point in a way which is not condescending and/or snobbish. If my blogs make someone enjoy reading them, I'll be happy.

  • I can feel you by your words, A7. And I felt bad for what happened to you. That was exactly how I felt too when I received a very rude comment on my group site, page and blogs. Just consider that this are all part of learning.

About your blog, there is nothing wrong with your blogs. There is also nothing wrong with a brain-teaser because a riddle and puzzle is also another kind of brain-teasers. Maybe, there are some who just didn't know this. Brain-teasers are mind games which are very ordinary here even before. So, don't worry about that.

As of now, I am just hoping that tomorrow will be better for us all.

    Good day!

  • Dear Kevin liu, you're right. Being an open-minded person could be very rewarding. It can help us to increase the quality of our work without fuming and charging like an angry bull! We shouldn't let the words hurt us. But, as I mentioned above, for the sake of the learners in this very site; a little common sense here and there wouldn't hurt now, would it?
