Indifference Kills!

Well, I have been a member of EC since 2009 and many of you know me well enough. And I tell you, before joining EC I searched through all the network. There is no site like this! I am happy and proud of being one of its members. There were active and passive periods of my being EC member, but I have always been  aware of what is going on here. I believe, you don't think I am postng this blog because Danny is my husband. I am posting it as we both are teachers.

Teachers are to teach and they invest all their lives in the process of education hoping to see students gain knowledge. But when we feel indifference of our students or their desire to use the knowledge they got to make everything worse than it is, we get frustrated, disappointed and even angree.

Knowlege and common sense are light and power, while their absence is darkness and helplessness.

I will not ask you why you killed my husband with your indifference. He had been killed by his university before. Danny is one of the best teachers I have ever seen. He has been cut out for teaching. I am a teacher, too but if I were a man, I would take off my hat before his capabilitiy of understanding his students and explaining their mistakes in his way! You should have heard his lectures!

And I wonder you made him leave.

So, it is OK, but my man is suffering because of being killed with your indiffernce. He would gladly die fighting for his ideas but he can't stand indifference to learning.

Please, don't kill great teachers! You will feel sorry for that sooner or later!

  • Dear Tanya, I felt so bad about EC when I heard that Danny left. He belonged to those few members who were keeping EC up to it's real motive. It is a great loss. I have read that discussion where it all happened.

Now I don't wanna make scene but if people really get so attached with some members here why don't they have personal contacts. I have more than 5 former EC people on mail, facebook or even some on whatsapp. Why people make an outcry here if someone leave if you were so close why didn't you get more contact. Indeed it is a site for learners and then social. It has to be social cause a group learning is always better than a single person reading a blog. I really request all emotionally attached friends here that share contacts so that you will know why someone left and he is doing fine without EC. Do not make a drama here by posting such discussion. Luci already posted a good blog about this that play mature but she got whacked bad and was harassed in the end to leave EC. Now same demon engulfed Danny that is so far a biggest loss for this place.

Tanya I feel ashamed that learners here couldn't prove the worth of his efforts by losing interest in learning and I was among one of them as well who couldn't make him stop. I still thank for his so far contribution and yours as well.

  • Dear Bet, Danny asked me to tell you that if you or others post your questions in our group, we will gladly answer them. I am so thankful for your offering him something to do! LOL!

  • Dear Luci, I did experience the same with my group "Practice English with Tanya". Well, you are right, we are not obliged to teach here, but we both joined EC to teach and it was the only one reason. I am really glad to meet some people holding the same views here and I am happy that Danny found a few friends. Thanks for being his friend, he feels so bad after his friend's death

  • Dear Rose, I didn't want to generalize, I am sorry. I know you and Dan made good friends and if you feel like writing, just do it. He checks his mail a few times a day. You are a true friend and a great human being. But let me tell you as a teacher. I do understand what you meant by "I disagree to wear this shoe". However, we shouldn't change any saying, proverb or idiom. The original idiom is "to be in one's shoes" and it means to feel the same. Thank you for understanding

  • Dear Rose, Luci, Bet, I know you were very active in our activities and I am happy to see Rose's and Bet's progress in learning English. Luci, your English is very good, you know. Although your grammar is not perfect, you know how to avoid "the narrow places" and it is like fluency. Thank you all.

  • English learner, I think most of EC members will be happy to see you leave forever. It is you who should have left this club long ago. If you think people don't recognize you because you changed your name, you are wrong. You are not welcome on my page

  • Dear Mary, let me disagree with you. First of all I don't blame anyone for Dan's decision. He is a big boy and it is up to him what to do. Perhaps you didn't notice that my blog is not about attitude to Danny, but about attitude to learning. If you read his last blogs, you would know that he hates people who lick his ass, he is tired of them! He is famous enough in his real life to look for recognition here. We do teach because we feel like that and Dan can't live without teaching, it is his true vocation. But let me tell you, all people need to see the feedback whatever they do. It is the same in art, science or any other field. Even a tailor or a hair stylisher wants his work to be praised. If you feel you don't care about others' opinion on what you do, it is your own business as you can hang your drawings on your walls and look at them enjoying your talent. At least, you see the result of your work. As to teachers, the result of our work is students' learning. We are happy when they gain knowledge but we are really sad, frustrated and disappointed facing the wall of indifference to education.

If you are that honest, just tell us the truth. Like any artist, you need recognition but you suppress this natural feeling trying to replace it with your self-confidence in your rightness.

Well, I am not Danny, so I can't behave like a gentleman.

  • I wanna say with Rose....yes, everybody is not indifferent here! And, I know there are many who will miss the grammar tests.

  • Well Tanya... let me say a few words here. As for being a teacher, I believe motivation is a key factor...if a teacher can see improvement and progress it makes them feel their work is worth it - at least I take it like this. If there is indifference and no interest, logically a teacher becomes disappointed and after some time lose interest as there is no feedback. I can fully understand this all, however Danny wasn't here obligged to teach us - I mean it was nice activity of him but he could simply stop doing it, stay here and post interesting blogs...
Btw I had here a group Kill your fear of talking and I know what I am talking about because firstly people were excited to record themself but later they weren't so interested even though I invested my time in creating tasks for them etc.. then one day I just realized it was enough and totally lost interest because I felt totally demotivated as there was no feedback...Anyway, I am sure we didn't kill Danny, he will recover soon and let's hope he will be soon back!
P.S. Rose...do you wanna say I am hysterical? :D yeah I am as I claimed in my latest blog :D
  • Wow, great comment, Mary!!!! I am not sorry to see Danny leave. He should have left many months ago. LOL.
