The Portrait of 2012: Is It Your Year?

Hi to all EC members...

Usually around this time is when everyone starts making plans and promises for a change in the New Year. We all experience something new every day and as a result of those experiences we’re changing willingly or unwillingly. With this basic thought, I focus on the very last hours of 365 days for the change. How do I do that? Well… I have a superstition. I believe that how you enter the New Year, your all year mostly continues doing that. For instance, if you enter the New Year watching TV, probably for the whole year you will spend your time in front of TV. Or, if you enter the New Year studying, you will be a hardworking student :) Now, lots of you find this superstition of mine crazy. But, I have experienced this many times. Studying, watching TV with my family, reading a book, going out with my friends… And, they all almost worked.

Now seriously talking, these superstitions are just a way to feel better for the coming year. If we do need something new or want the New Year run as we wish, we shouldn’t tie strictly to the last hours of the year. Actually, I don’t believe New Year’s Day is any different than any other day. The concept of believing in such things is telling myself that I have entered a new year and I want to change the lazy and lame parts of my life.

For a good beginning or for the scenario how we want our New Year to go on, we don’t need any superstitions. We just need to plan new things and believe in ourselves. Just ask these questions to yourself and find your own answers: “How did last year go? What do I want to do differently this year? Will everything be the same as it used to be?” It is always important to take time at the beginning of the year to reflect on what has been accomplished, learn lessons from our failures or faults and list out our goals as we look forward into the New Year. At first, we might fail in what we set out to do. But, failure is not the end for the person who determines to learn from it. For this person, failure is an experience… Failure is his friend…

In the last year, if things didn’t go as you wanted, there is no time like the present to make a new start. Every second of life is precious. Why not start doing something right now? Just believe in this, genuinely “I want the New Year to be different for me.” And, finally, “If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.” ~Jack Dixon

I hope, 2012 is laying up a good change for you...

  • Thanks Dear for commenting.

Yeah....I believe it unfortunately :( I can't stop myself from believing it.

I've experienced it many times, and it worked.

  • Thank you for useful article . you are amazingly high light on many nice points .

I  would like to comment on your superstition ( I believe that how you enter the New Year, your all year mostly continues doing that. For instance, if you enter the New Year watching TV………)

Really I have examined your superstition ,and I believe it now.

  • You're font is cute but you should look at my eyes too, my sweety :) :) :P :P

    It's really too small.... :S

  • Dear Yasemin-chan

You said that, the fear build within people's minds is less worse than what they want to get rid of; but I think that people can't get rid of those because they are become addicted to the rhythm of their life. Yielding to the no willing in change whatever the situations, so in the end they just chose to keep feeling the pain, forgetting the famous quote : " No Pain No Gain "

P.S : Chan is used mostly for girls, unless you are trying to intimidate me. Try sama or san, or ask Junko-jan.

  • MileyJ.,

I know you are an emotional girl and I wish you the best. Hope, you will succeed your in your plan and your resolution.

    Expector,

When I saw your comment, I exactly thought that Doc must have entered New Year working....and I was right. lol I think It is not that bad. You have a respected job and I admire it.

    Ultimate,

Reda-chan! Sometimes, pain can be good. When you deeply feel that things are going worse if you don't do anything or just wait for it doing nothing. Pain or fear can prompt one into action. As life moves on we should move on too. Waiting is no help. I think the fear that people build up in their mind is less worse than the thing that they wanna get rid of...What happens if people just set out their plan. Will the pain go greater?

PS. We will see if you can eat my mind!...

  • Dewan,

I think number 4 is applicable. I really like that. lol One should get marry on new year's eve, exactly at 12.00! This is gonna be a legendary! lol

    Thuong,

Mom! Look after my dad carefully! But, don't tire yourself. You know I love you :)))

    PS. Are you still sleeping?

    Natalia,

New Years are just impulsions that head us to change something. To me, it is nothing more than adding some numbers to our ages and nothing more than a starting point. But, I do believe that new year's eve is special. And, I would never dare to sleep on that day! haha :))

  • Yas-chan ... I will refer to a quote that I found somehow on New Year's Day,

Change happens when the pain of holding on becomes greater than
    the fear of letting go.

This works for almost all people, when it's a matter of life or something that really needs change they will do it, otherwise no one will think in change just for fun. They just keep trying to go along with the same path, willing they could reach their objectives. But it's a wrong idea, If you fail in the first time, of course don't stop trying, but  do it in another way and don't wait until it becomes harder.

P.S : Keep it up Yas-chan ... soon I'll eat your mind through my ideas ...

  • I was busy at the hospital on New Year's Day, so I will be busy all year, right? I don't really hope so, though!

  • Hmmm...just this morning I read my yearly horoscope. Guess what it says " time of reckoning"...oh I was so upset reading this article. Hope this reckoning would be a good ONE.

Anyway, I don't believe that much on horoscope ;). I'd rather do things in my way and ask God for his help and guidance. I must face my fear now that I'm heading for a BIG PLAN. Hope it will work out this year.

    Nice work Yas!

    Good Day!

  • Viviana,

Sorry to say that but you will be a complete drunken this year hehe :) I should have written this blog earlier to warn you.

    Anele,

The change itself makes us afraid of it. Another failure.....it will turn us into stable robots that never changes till someone comes and changes its settings. We have a choice, but the way to make positive and life affirming change in your life is firstly to change the change. I think we fail here. We should try to avoid being the same person, try to look at the world through others' eyes and be the change itself.

    Dewan,

Why do you think this on the baby's side? What about the mom? Oh My God! She is gonna give birth to children during the all year! (Though sciencetifically it is absurd)
