The first meeting?

In China ,in daily life,we say hello and shake hands to show that we are friendly .Then we usually talk about our hobbies , strengths (maybe weakness)or news. However ,we hardly say something about our "money" or our family. It's a secret,I think.....but ,we never mind to tell them our age, even the women who had married.   We think age is  wealth.

So ,what will you say about when you first meet?  Or how it would be in a competion?

thanks~~~~

  • I myself do not like shaking hands, I even find it disgusting coz my hands always and always sweat... So this is just palpable how their face would be after shaking hands. But unfortuanatly, this is a tradition in here just the same with urs.
I really like to have the greeting in Japan... I sometimes do it but of course the person will get offence.
About the topics, I have to say that I always avoid talking with some1 in meeting, so I'm not sure
  • hello, shabeen~.I have never met a person who is the Muslim faith, but read a book about them, muslims are very pay attention to etiquette. Thank you ~~

  • hello noaslpls ~        yeah  , we talk more about life when we meet friends. And it's the first time for me to know that someone who don't like shaking hands........ that's all. Thank you~~~

  • Shaking hands are an optional over here. Some prefer not to shake hands for religious matter, so shaking hands may offend them. The greetings all depends on the situations. If the meeting is a formal one, we always try to ask about their work, such as "How's work". But if the meeting is informal, lets say between friends, sometimes we ask them about life in general.
