Supplication of distress

This  duaa is by Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him), whenever you are in distress or difficulty, and you call on God sincerely and repentantly, your call will be answered. The story of prophet Yunus was taken from Qurran. He was sent with the message of God to the village of Nineveh, present of mowsil in Iraq.  The  prophet called on his people to the message of Allah and to follow the truth and the right path. His people rejected the message and persisted on their delusion and wrongdoings. He was disheartened and frustrated. Prophet Yunus, disappointed and angry,  went out of the village. He threatened them with the punishment of Allah after three days. After some time, his people realized their error and they went out to the desert asking Allah to forgive them and stop the punishment. Allah accepted their supplication and duaa and He spared them the punishment. Prophet Yunus was in a hurry. He was not patient and he did not wait for Allah's instructions.

He went to board a ship. In the middle of the sea a storm broke out and the waves started to pound the sides of the ship. The people were told to throw their luggage but still, the ship was not steady and heavy and it might drown any moment. Then it was said that one of the passengers should jump into the water to lighten the load of the ship. They made a draw. The first draw threw on Prophet Yunus. Then, the people knew Prophet Yunus was a good man and he was sent to his people. They decided to make another draw, but it came against him. Then, they made the third draw and Prophet Yunus lost it, too. He knew that it had been intended that he would be the one. They did not want him to be thrown out of the ship but he took off his clothes and jumped into the sea. God sent a big fish from the green sea (the Atlantic ocean) to swallow him. The Almighty inspired that the whale not to devour him or break any bones of his body. At this moment, Prophet Yunus knew his mistake. He was inside three parts of the darkness, first, the darkness of the belly of that fish. Second, the darkness of the sea, and third, the  darkness of the night. The prophet then knew his wrongdoing of being impatient with his people and not waiting for God's instructions. The fish cleaved the sea until it reached the bottom. There, he heard the rocks uttering the glorifications of Allah. At that moment, Prophet Yunus  called to his God, (there is no God but you, glorified be you, I have been of the wrongdoers). Allah answered his call and saved him from the belly of that fish and from the darkness and the fish spewed him on the shore. It is obvious that if we are in agony or distress, we can use that

  • Dear Sir!'La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz zalimin'. When I feel depressed or lost things I recite this dua. Thanks, dara sir for this great blog.

Yunus ((peace be upon him) when He threw himself into the sea, a whale fish came and swallowed Him. Allah motivated that fish not to devour or break his bones.
Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) realized his mistake and called out to Allah in that crucial time: Allah granted his Dua .
Patience is the main elements to make yourself glory full and have the courage to repent of the wrong deeds. Allah is forgiveness. So as much as we keep praising and seeking Allah’s forgiveness, He will please us and happily accepted our wish.

  • Apa kabar Peppo? Pertama tama, bilang terma kasih saya untuk bapak Mishaikh. Kedua, Kamu benar, silakhan, melihat nya (La Ilaha ila anta subhanaka ini kuntu min athalimeen). Thanks for your nice comment on Supplication for distress!
  • Yes Peppo, you are right.
  • I have question, this is the pray, isn't this?
'la ilahailla anta ya subhanaka inni kuntumminadzolimin'
  • I like the stories of al-anbiya, Prophet Yunus Alaihissalam is one of them. We get used to think we cannot be compared to prophets because of their devotion. At this point we forget that they also humans like us. They also feel the desperation and distress, but they never give up anyway because they believe God always guides them in the right path. This story is an example that even when we forget about God, God never ignore us nor leave out behind. There is always a way for us to come back.
    Thanks for share!
  • Allah always listen an answer of every prayer if we say it from the core of our hearts. Mostly we are thinking about any prsonal stuff while praying.
  • Bahut shukriya Mishaikh sahab faory jawab kilyei. Thanks, Mr. Mishaikh for your quick and nice comment.
