A book, named time investment, appeared in my most difficult moment. This book taught me more than time management. It revealed me the unique thoughts and life style of an extremely successful businesswoman in Japan. It helped me build up the habits of learning. The learning habits bring me a lot of dramatic changes in my life from then on.

I became a vivid learner from that time. I really feel the benefits of learning. Therefore, I really hope to share the benefits of learning with you, and encourage more people to be a vivid learner. However, learning is a very large topic and covers many things. In order to make things easy, today I will only talk about how reading helps me. Although learning is more than reading, reading actually plays a big role in learning.

(I am an enthusiastic reader. I need to read about 20 books every month. Here are some of the books I have with me now.)

1. Get close to successful people.

By reading, we can encounter a lot of successful people, who died already, or who we will never have a chance to talk to. If you study their thoughts and stories constantly, you will find that your thoughts, characteristics, styles, and life values will enhance as time goes on. Their experiences can also help us achieve excellence easier. Their stories can be best described as mental nutrition.

2. Give us guide and hope, when we are in the low of our life.

I would never forget this person, Kazuyo Katsuma, as her book gave me hope and guided me, while I was lost in my life. Last year, I really did not feel like continuing my studies, as my poor result in secondary school. I felt inferior because there were a lot of bad things happening on me and it seemed that I was not good at any aspects. Her book helped me started my learning journey. Every thing becomes better and better after building up the habit of constant learning.

3. Learn new skills earlier than the people around us.

We can actually learn a lot of new skills and techniques which are developed by more developed countries earlier than the people around us. For example, in my countries, mind-map, learning with the help of sub consciousness, and speed reading are not general. Only very few students learn them by reading. By reading a lot of related books and practicing diligently, I become better at all these aspects compared to those people around me. These skills have become my secret weapons to compete with others.

4. Reading is an eye opener.

Reading is also a good way to broaden our international perspectives. We can get the information about the economic situation, competition; the ways people think and behave and other things in more developed countries. For example, recently, a book, about Jewish learning styles makes me aware that there are people learning in a much more brilliant way than we are in the other side of the world. I should say it is very helpful in broadening my thoughts.

5. Writing skills.

I started my reading journey from last year and writing journey a few months ago. I can not say my writings are very nice, but I can say my writing does improve from time to time. I believe all these are related to reading, as reading can really enhance my thoughts and give me a lot of ideas.

6. Motivation.

If we read the stories of successful people constantly, their spirit will affect our mind unconsciously, keep us motivated all the time and make us think positively. We may feel frustrated when we face setbacks or obstacles, in the way to achieve our goals. The stories of people who have overcome those setbacks and obstacles, and have achieved their goals at the end can really motivate us.

7. Learn from authorities.

If we want to learn mind-map, we must learn from Tony Buzan. If we want to learn social skills, we must learn from Dale Cargenie. It is the same to other aspects, as we can get the most developed and creamy knowledge from them. Reading is the easiest way for us to learn their knowledge.
