Luci left,

Onee-chan left,

A few seconds after Batuhan left the chatroom, I logged in…

A sudden popped of private message came to prompt…

Stranger: Hi Risty! How are you?

Hmm..moving the cursor.. click “view profile”… from Germany…think, think, ok.I want to have new friends, I’ll try this one.

Me: Hello! Good afternoon Mr.___

Stranger: Just call me ___, you want to improve your English, right?

Sounds interesting.

Me: Yes, that’s right and to gain some friends too.

Stranger: I will tell you something, you cannot befriend to a guy.

Puzzled.

Me: Why? I have so many guy friends during college and we’re still good friends up to date.

Stranger: You must be delusional, there’s no way a guy will be your friend, would like to test that.

What’s wrong with this guy?

Me: Ahm, Mr.___ I beg to disagree, I have so many respectable guy friends in real life.

Stranger: They are up to something; they will take advantage of you… look at that girl, so naïve, an easy prey.

My blood is starting to boil, but still, I managed to respect his opinions.

Me: Ahm, excuse me Mr.____, I have to prepare my food pack for tomorrow. Nice meeting you.

Stranger: Not so fast! Do you want to learn right?  Read me carefully, my statement is true. Ask your guy friends if they want to have __ with you, and your illusion will crash right before your eyes.

Wait a minute! Risty, control your temper.

Me: Huh? What’s your point?

Stranger: To break your illusion and to help you learn.

Me: I want to learn the English language not to cross-examine every guy’s intention when making friends of me, although sometimes I’m doing that, but my priority now is to learn the language.

Stranger: Would you like to discuss it over Skype? I’m a native English speaker.

Drink your own dose of medicine.

Me: I’ve got your point now Mr.____, I should be careful in making guy friends in particular. I will learn English, in my own ways. Thanks but no thanks!

Stranger: I’m telling you, girl, there’s no way for you to have a guy friend and have a platonic relationship.

He’s imagining things, am I talking to a bipolar? :D

Me: What will you get after telling me this?

Stranger: Nothing, just wanted to tell you.

That’s it?

Me: You are a bully. You’re not helpful in any way. Bye.

Stranger: It’s up to you, but in case you want to talk to me, I’m always willing to give a hand and be with you.

I will not play it hard for you.

Stranger: Just remember, stop fantasizing a peaceful and bed of roses, you should live in reality.

Stranger: What a shame! Stop hiding in your shell.

Yes, it’s a big shame to go out of my shell and meet someone like you!

Me: (huh? As if he knows me? An introvert used to hide. That’s no secret)

Move the cursor, click the person’s name then click Ignore button.

Girls, this dialogue is real and I even reported the said person to our admin… I felt so bad, bullied and abused that time, but I said to myself, “Risty if you want to learn, brace yourself, you’ll face difficulties, be brave.”  Hahaha!

  • BINGO Risty.  You hit the jackpot!...... For sure, these people are having symptoms of DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder).

Bullying is rampant in school that some pupils don't bother to report about this anymore as if they already consider it as part of the school life.  In lower grades, pupils tend to complain about it to the point of exaggeration which only annoys the primary teachers.  Now you can imagine how the teachers develop migraine so easily because of this.

I hope the chatroom is not always teeming with these bullies.  Thanks Risty.

  • Hello there Ate Anne, it’s been a while now, hope you are doing fine and happy exercising this Anti-Bullying Act in your school’s premise. :D

I’ll repeat after you, what a bully! Unfortunately, there are people who find pleasure doing this to others, though I don’t get how still psychology said that they were those who were deprived of something or feelings that a normal person should feel in real life. This is a clear manifestation of their fears and weakness, that they want to show off to chatrooms because that’s the only place they could brag, probably, in real life they are unreliable and distrusted individuals. So sad.

I learned from this, thanks to him. :D I always see the positive side of everything, that’s the best machinery to protect my being. Thanks for dropping by here Ate Anne. My bad, my tongue got twisted when I tried to voice read the “supercalifa….” What???hahaha!

  • Hello there Mary, douchebag? So youuuuu! Hahaha! Yes, he surpassed the jerk stage. :D

I agree chatroom is useful when we want to practice our English communication skills, there’s a chance that other chatters correct our written statements and word usage, even the spelling! We got the chance to write our opinion about a particular topic or various topics, and unlike in commenting, we have no tools to delete what we already entered the room, so we need to be cautious. I also want to push through the suggestion to have an active moderator there, but how about the private rooms? Well, I don’t want to intervene chatters’ discretion to chat to someone if they want to.

Thanks, Mary, I deleted the phrasal verb “give up” to my dictionary, what is that again? :D

Hope to see you there too, without your repetitive entry messages. I guess there’s a bug in your chatroom.hahaha! :D

  • Hello there, Elf-light! :D First, I would like to ask how are you?  Second, so nice to see you again on my blog. Yes, Elf, thanks for this advice, it’s in my power how to reply but the thing which is uncontrollable is his/her reply. Haha! Just like you said, I should prepare myself in advance so I’ll never get disappointed once they show their arrogant statements and questions.

    Stay happy and God bless!

  • Is RA 10627 applicable here?  Since we are all students here and EC is very much qualified as a learning center, why not?  Hahaha

What a bully!  Here, the old adage "Respect begets respect" is of no effect.  The intention is clear - to drive you to the edge of your patience.  Even girls who masquerade themselves as men do this in the chatroom.

Ignore or walk away is the best shield against their verbal attacks.

Yet there is thrill in challenging yourself on how you can handle these kind of trolls and even feel victorious after losing their patience.  The more victorious we felt when we overcome them with our supercalifragilisticexpialidocious English words.  Wow, we may feel we are improving... thanks to these trolls, hahaha!

  • Risty! that stranger in the other blog you wrote pissed me off, but this one... makes me want to punch his face with a brick ¬¬   What a douchebag...

It's sad this kind of things happen very often in the chatroom, because the chat is a really useful and great tool to learn english. But since these situations are so common, no wonder why so very few people use the chatroom now. I'll keep saying we need moderators there, and also talkative people who can motivate others to have interesting convos.

Btw, don't give up and keep using the chat from time to time... I'd love to find you there some day! ;)

  • Sweety Risty,
In chatroom, different natured people come.. So if you give him/her reply then you should prepare yourself to face his/her any kind of question...LOL..

    Stay Blessed..
  • Dear Sir Estanis, hahaha! “butter up” …means to be friendly, I thought I should avoid to grease them.. :D… May I use the word “grill” instead? Ahaha! I’ll be careful next time Sir, thanks!

  • Dear Elen, my bad, I had not stopped earlier… yeah, a waste of time. Ignore button is the second to the last option I have, though I also used the last option which is “to report a member”. Haha! :D

  • Dear Onee-chan, no problem! It was a misfortune that I had met this guy, he’d done enough so I didn’t intend to elaborate about himself, and I should have done that sooner. Hahaha! You think he’s sick? Hahaha, his attitude is contagious. I think he needs professional advice. Haha! :D
