My Incredible Delhi

Delhi is my hometown my parents, my grandfather selected here after he had faced a partition from Pakistan & India in 1947, they came here from Lahore.

Delhi is the capital city of India and among one of the rapidly growing cities of India. Its stand on the bank of river Yamuna. Delhi is not like other cities it is a very busy city because the cost of living is very expensive so, layman is busy earning a living.

The biggest gift to Delhities in these 66 years is Metro – A DREAM COME TRUE- providing comfortable, Money & time saving journey- connected the whole city- make commutation easy for daily commuters.  Only metro make people easily accessible for job opportunities from Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad cities. Metro has broadened the horizon of a common thinking man. DMRC have started - Rapid Metro (Non-stop) and Airport Express line to make journey more solace for Delhi people.

Delhi is the centre for all political activities, The Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Parliament of India and the Supreme Court of India are all situated in Delhi.

You also abreast with the recent movement of Anna Hazare- lokpal bill, Arvind Kejriwal in Ram lila ground is near to my office. The most popular man in the city these days is Arvind Kejriwal –Name of Change – from AAM AADMI PARTY – he has changed the History – newly appointed CM.  He is aiming to make Delhi a corruption free state.

Major Attraction are the Beautiful Parks of the New Delhi- Mughal Garden, Lodhi Garden(Lodhi Road), Garden of Five Senses(Saket), Talkatora (Karol Bagh) perfect for relaxation and meditation. My favourite place is Lodhi Garden and Sai Baba Temple.

Sarojini Nagar –the bargain Market, and South Ex. & Lajpat Nagar- posh markets, Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk, and Connaught Place is the Heart of Delhi including palika bazaar underground market cheapest bargain for clothing. There is a park in CP called the central park from where the view of CP buildings is very beautiful. Kamala Nagar and Rajouri Garden, are big and famous shopping markets for all branded clothings and all markets are with metro connectivity. Chandni Chowk Market known as Delhi 6 is also known as Old Delhi. Best place to purchase a legha for wedding.  Big wholesale market for everything books, clothes, electronics, cosmetics, children toys, stationary items, wedding cards etc etc etc following chawri bazaar and Sadar Bazaar Market. Kashmere gate is famous for spare part market in world.. My office is in Asaf Ali Road (old Delhi) near to  Ramlila ground, Chandni Chowk, Chawri bazaar. So, I have enjoyed the taste of Delhi 6.  Lassi, Paratha, Kachodi, Samosas, Gulab Jamun etc etc.

All the major events like the Republic Day at India Gate, Independence Day at Red Fort etc and festivals of all religion are celebrated in Delhi, lots of cultural programmes are being organized in Delhi Haats (where the traditional culture is also exhibited and promoted) with great zeal and excitement. In Delhi, one can enjoy all types of Indian and international cuisines and delicacies besides the typical mouth watering local fast food collection like Dahi Bhalla, Gol gappe, Momos gaining popularity, chole bhature, Papri Chaat.

If you are religious we have abundance of temples in Delhi – Jandewalan in Karol bagh its Mata temple, Kalkaji Temple in South Delhi, Chattarpur in South Delhi, Hamuman Mandir & Bangla Sahib in CP and Sai baba temple in Lodhi Road. Iskcon temple of Lordkrishna in Kalkaji visited by lakhs of worshippers every year and has lot of crowd outside these temples most of the time.

State Govt. has been successful in making Delhi an eco-friendly state. All buses and autos having CNG kits in them.

Delhi is a great centre of Trade, Industries and Education. Places to visit – Delhi Haat, Aksharadham, Pura Kila, India Gate, Doll Museum, Rail Museum, Central Park, Lodhi garden, Adventure Island.

Delhi people are enjoying every weather around the year. From the month of April to June we have summers. In May & June hot is in its peak, Cold drinks are on high sale volume, From July onwards we have  to keep umbrella in our bags - good monsoon, we have very heavy rainfall up to September, Then we have Spring in September to November. Winters from end of November till March beginning. These days I am enjoying winters in Delhi Sometime jackets and warm coats not working much good to us.

Delhi Govt has introduced buses named “Delhi Darshan” with very less fare they take you over city and show you the entire Delhi in one day tour.

At the glance Delhi has made a lot of development and still developing in upcoming years.

There are plenty of things to share with you about my Delhi city but I am closing my essay here to make you more curious about my Delhi by visiting it personally “again.”
