What is multitasking?
The ability to execute more then one task at the same time is called multitasking.
Computer multitasking
The term multitasking initially used in computer engineering industry. Multitasking is an operating system in Windows, Linux and almost all the computers. The computer's CPU can handle many processes simultaneously It allows the user to work in more than one computer task and could run multiple programs at the same time.
Human multitasking
A person deal with more than one task at the same time. For example many of us, working with a computer, sending emails, attending the phone call, printing, having a cup of tea, giving a biscuit to the lovely cat sitting next to you, Paying bills through online, reply to that face book message, sending a thank you message for a lovely comment in your blog in EC, listening to the news from the TV and so on..
When I think about human multitasking lots of people around me came in to my mind.
Mothers: Every mother is a multitasking person. Particularly if their children were young. mothers, cook for their family, feed them, care for them, cleaning, washing and so many. They try to do every thing at a same time. Our mothers are extraordinary people and they are multitasking most of the time.
Chef:Often we go to a restaurant near home. There I saw a multitasking chef. Because the cooking place next to the front desk, the chef welcomes every one enter in to that restaurant with his happy smile, he cook, he serve, he wrap food for take away, he attend phone calls, he check the price, billing,When ever people leave he say 'thank you and have a nice day! ' I was so amazed by that chef. How could he manage all those work and keep smiling? He is multitasking
Like the same way Musicians, customer service workers, builders, supervisors , circus performers, and so many others are multitasking.
When we shouldn’t multitask?
Imagine a person while driving and using his/ her mobile or put make up on, what will happen? Some thing bad is waiting to happen is in it? Multitasking will act against that person. So we should avoid multitasking while we drive
Some of us read or using the mobile when we eat. Things can go wrong is nit it. we can choke. I remember a man eats a wasp with his salad and get stung inside, he said it felt like a heart attack. We shouldn't multitask while we eat.

you are right sometimes we must focus on one task like a doctor doing a surgery; he or she couldn't think of anything else or as you said while we are driving, but sometimes it's ok and we can handle a few tasks at the same time.
