Lantern Festival

Lantern Festival, which was the last festival  during the period of the Spring Festival , is on the 15th day  of 1ST lunar month.

This day's improtant activity is watching lanterns.Thousand of different shape and size lanterns are hung out on the trees, buildings and doors, etc.

In the countryside  every family hangs out the red lanterns  too on the two sides of the door.

Meanwhile,to make the Lantern Festival more interesting, people usually writes a lot of puzzles on the lanterns.Who could solve the puzzle will get a gift as a prize.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling. Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious.

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance,  walking on stilts and beating drums while dancing will be staged.

I love the 'Lantern Day' - fireworks, firecrackers, lanterns, 'tanguan', etc. Today is Lantern Day, which means we're about to finish celebrating the Chinese New Year. And, spring seems to be already here - that's why Chinese New Year is also called 'Spring Festival' or 'Spring Day'.  Wish you all a very prosperous new year!
