Lack of confidence (Kindly help me)

Hello my dear EC teachers and friends. This is me  Rajesh one of your EC friend/student/younger and this time I really need your help, like you have been doing for me.

What happened to me ?

May be you would have read my blog "Durga Puja, A big festival of India". I had this festival and I
had a long holiday. I enjoyed my festival a lot, with my friends.

Today after three weeks, I had my class. I mostly try to speak in English in my class but today while talking to my teacher and friends, I spoke in English but I don't know why I was feeling lack of confidence ? When I gave a glance towards my speaking, first of all, I tried to convince myself and say come on Rajesh come on...although that was a successful try and I kept talking with them in English until or unless they did. But, after coming back my home I felt very sad and this was the first time for me when I'm feeling lack of confidence while in my English learning life. I really don't know but I couldn't stop my tears in this situations. Is it a human nature ? or what ?

I always try my best to make others speak in English. But..

Why did it happen with me ?

Does it happen to all while learning the language?

What should one do if one feels, lack of confidence while English learning ?

You all are more than thank you always my dear EC teachers and friends.

  • Dear Sono,

Me too, very happy to become your friend. And nice to know about you through your blog.

Sono, I wrote this blog for me because this is my real feeling. Of course this is very helpful for all of us who feel like this while learning English.

Sono, I needed, my friends/teaches and others experiences/encouragement in this stage.

Yeah, I'm star member and I have written many blogs, shared my own created videos/audios because I love English and since when I joined EnglishClub I found it the best place  for improving my English and of course I have improved my English from EC and improving.

I hope this blog and specially all the comments here would be very helpful for others, all comments here encourage me a  lot.

Thanks a lot dear Sono, nice to  see your activities on EC keep writing up dear.

  • Thanks Rajesh,That's very helpful for me to read your blog.^^good luck!

  • Hello Rajesh,

Thank you for sharing this important blog. I think that, the instances you mentioned are common dilemmas of a non-native English speaker. I experienced it too my friend. Part of learning (in any language) are struggles, hardships and tears. But there are passion, determination and resourcefulness that we can use to contradict those people and the what ifs that swirling on our heads.

Let me share you one of my worst experiences ever. When I was applying for a job in a call center, I gone through rigorous interviews. I almost got hired, until one of the managers (who interviewed me) told me that I didn't qualify for the job because my English was worst. He handed me a note enumerating my weaknesses. I cried for that experience. But I thanked him and the other bad experiences I had because it reminds me to strive for the best. Honestly, I kept that note and posted it on my journal as reminder.

I know I still a lot to improve on. I'm aiming to be fluent someday but for the meantime, I'll enjoy and practice what we can get here in MyEC. Rajesh, I believe in you. You can succeed, grow and attain all of your goals not only in learning English but in life too. Don't lose hope alright. Your LEVC2011 entry proved you did a great leap. And I admired you for being creative too.

I hope you'll consider all the good comments on this blog. Anele, Gabriel ( I liked his quotes), Tara and others had given you amazing tips to improve your English as well as to other members who will read this blog. Until then. Cheers! : )

  • My dear sister Anele thanks a lot for your this job for me.

Oh, now, I see, that was a bad day for me as I had holiday for three weeks so, I think that was  my feeling.

No, they didn't criticize my English.

No, I didn't find speaking in English a bit hard.

    No, I didn't stammer.

But, I need more and more practice which will make me perfect and increase my confidence.

    Thank you very much.
  • You're always many thanks dear Hala J.M . I feel so proud to have a good teacher and a good friend with me like you.
  • Thanks a lot dear John for telling me your story and giving such encouraging comments. Now, I feel that was really bad day for me and now I hope I'll never face such situation if I'll, then I'm sure all these encouraging comments will not let my confidence go down.

    Than you...

  • The fact  that you realised you need to improve is a big step forward, no place for feeling lack of confidence, but be happy you know what to improve...(it s like feeling good while correcting the last example sentence given by Anele :)

Frustrations occur to many people who learn English, it s part of learning process; it s an agressive way of making you aware of your own expectations.

I foud interesting answers  when I asked myself the same questions as yours; I was happy to read in English and find so many information.

As for instance now, I read a nice blog of a person who is very confident and commited to spot and solve any English learning difficulties- wish you Good luck!

  • Thank you very much dear Phuong...oh, your name still, I can't pronounce.
  • Lol...Thuonghuynh thanks a lot for your encouragement.

    hi hi ...
