Jewelry

The title of this blog gave me the idea of making my next discussion. It is about adornments and ornamentations for women.

My wife wanted a pearl necklace for her birthday as a gift. Necklaces may have been one of the earliest types of adornment worn by women.
It was too expensive for me. I told her a watch would do. she was not convinced, but we went to a jewelry shop. Outside, by the left side of the door, displayed on a cupboard, there were earrings, bracelets, necklaces, hairpins, tiaras, cornets, and watches.
My wife pointed to one glimmering watch. There was a small paper attached to that watch written on it, this number 140,611. I thought it was the serial number of it, or some sort of a code number, or something. Then we pushed the door open and asked the man behind the counter about its price.
He smiled briefly and told us that each item had its price attached to it. I said, "Are you serious? One hundred forty thousand and six hundred and eleven riyal!"
I am not good at mathematics, but that was probably close to forty thousand US dollars. Those were the items exhibited on the glassy cupboard for the coming buyer. I did not want to see the inside items and I told my wife to leave that place before I get dizzy or have a heart attack.
The next day, I bought her a pearl bracelet that resembles a diamond for three hundred dollars. My wife loves me, she pretended it was so awesome and beautiful, but she knew that it was fake and she did not want to embarrass me in front of her friends.

  • thats too expensive... luckily you are smart enough to buy another alternative one.

  • Shookran jazeelan ya Abu Hmaid. Thanks to Ahmed Jaber, and happy Eid aladha.

  • May Allah  help you and your wife!

  • Ya soglassen s toboy, Winnie The Pooh! I really share with you the same thought. Our ladies here are crazy about new things. Once they hear that a new kind of ring, bracelet, or a dress, they just want to have it. Our pockets are rusty because of these adornments for our women. Do you know that my wife does not like to wear the dress for the second occasion? Every occasion and especially marriages must have a new dress. The last time me and my wife, we just wanted to make a fuss about it. Thanks, Winnie for your thought.

  • sorry i do not like jewerly. it is kind of knick-knack.
exsept that way, there are a lot of ways to spend money.

    • Spasibo Winnie The Pooh, it is ok. Sorry for my late reply.

  • Estoy de aquerdo contigo! Exactly! My respected lady.  The  gift is by its  meaning,  and not by its value. Thanks, Janeth for your expressive comment .

  • Hi Mr. Dara!

I think it is not how much the gift costs. It is what you show throught it.You can give the most amazing diamonds on earth, but if you do not give then with appreciation and with true love  that is worthless (well she can sell them and get the money....not bad!).Or you can give a small flower and that can be priceless. That depens on what we show everyday and what we do to show the others that they are valuable and they matter. It was nice from you to give that pearl bracelet to her.I am sure that she deserves the best!

Greetings to you and your wife! I wish a happy birthday to her!

  • ^^ you are very welcome ^^

  • Shookran bizzaf ya Youssef! Wakhaa! It is indeed to show that you admire the person a lot. The gift in any dress or whatever it is less in value, it shows that someone cares about you. Do you know that my wife bought me a leather shoe from Alahad market in Agadir last year? It was not expensive, but I was very happy with it. Thanks, Youssef for your comment on Jewelry.
