In a lonely moment

A moment....

Some minutes,

Some hours or more.

It’s a moment.....

Sky in peace,

Blanketed clouds,

Dreaming stars,

the night asleep.

A book reads

Its own lines,

a flute plays

In my veins.

Hopes drafting routes – to

Climb the heights,

with future spouse.

Tears washes

Dirt of thoughts,

Grounded forehead

Inquires wrong deeds.

Mind admires created,

Soul praises creator!

Hisham Hussain, Puttalam, Sri Lanka.

This is a translation of the Tamil language original poem composed by me. This (drawing with the poem) is on permanent exhbition on the wall of the Open University of Sri Lanka, Puttalam Study Centre (my home town).

  • HH, My dear brother, you have shown us a poem full of hope and optimism. You have made it look perfect and clear in English as if its written in English language in the first place. Really I admire the sense of hope and the source of happiness in this piece of art.
