Ideas Make A Difference!

In my first entry, i was not happy at the way some parents neglected paying thier childrens school fees. I had a bright idea during the fee drive and i decided to try it out! in our school we send out what we call the "Terms Calender" to all our parents. This was sent rather late this term cos of reorganisation. We decided to create some sort of excitement by adding a programme on the 13th to mark vals day, we however tagged it "Gift exchange day' this created so much buzz that before the week ran out almost all of the children school fees were paid. You may be wondering, why this would be so exciting? In our school, a lot of the children do not or have never seen the walls of Mr Biggs( a popular fast food restuarant chain in Nigeria) talkless of even knowing which day thier birthday falls on because no one remembers! Previosly children will not get back to school for almost two weeks! So every child was asked to come in red, anything red, and a gift no matter what but come with a gift. Names were picked randomly so parents will know if the child they are buying gifts for is a boy or a girl. Teachers also came in red, and brought gifts for each other. We took pictures, shared biscuits in class . not more than Five thousand five hundred naira was spent on the pictures and biscuits. It however resulted in a huge turnout of children who could come to school to learn rather than stay at home cos of unpaid school fees! This whole thing made me take a look at my life, at the many bright ideas i have had in the past but have been too afraid to implement or put to action. There is always the fear, of how will i start, where can i do such , what will people say? but i realised that the simple way of swinging into action is carrying out the idea, just locate where you need to start from then start! The Starting point may not be where you think, but if you calm down and just listen to your heart it will surely tell you where to start. cos a good idea put into action makes a whole lot of difference. What do you think?New Words:talkless = a Nigerian expression in English that means " how much more"
