Tattoos are scarcely accepted by society in Japan. For example,  people who have tattoos are often refused admittance to spas and pools. Most Japanese athletes and public service workers don't have tattoos. The reason is because most Yakuza(Japanese mafia) have tattoos, so some Japanese people are afraid of them and dislike them.

I hear that tattoos are accepted by society in Western countries as part of  the fashion and I often see Western countries' athletes who have tattoos.
How much are tattoos accepted by society in your country? what do you think about tattoos? Are there public service workers who have tattoos in your country? If people know that a legislator has tattoos in Japan, the legislator would get a roasting.

  • To  Diah Thank you for your comment. Your thought about tatoos may be close to Japanese thoughts about it.

  • In my country, Indonesia, some society have thoughts that having tattoo is a bad thing to do, basically it related to the religion they believe. And otherwise. But it's a stereotype that people who have tattoos are bad, because most of the criminal people use tattoos. And I'm as a part who have a thought it's a bad thing to have tattoo on body. :)

  • To Adaline Bala Thank you for your comment. I think people's views about tattoos depend on their cultural background. It is interesting that there are big different views between Japan and India.

  • Lovely topic!

Tatoos have been used as a cultural symbols among the tribal population in India. For hundreds of years tattooing was venerated across the forested landscapes of India. Prehistoric rocks were copied by tribal communities on their bodies. In Apatani tribe of Arunachal Pradesh where young girls were tatooed to make them unappealing to the rival tribes of the neighboring districts.

Here is a picture of them they are old now,

2643872414?profile=originalIn my part of India still we can see lots of grandmas with tattoos, here is one,

But here in UK, friend of mine tattooed her children's names around her neck. Recent days I can see increasing numbers of tattoo shops every where. Children in my School wearing fake tattoos and says i will have some when I turn 16. Here its common.

Thank you. This is my two different opinions about tattoo.
