How to take criticism??

Hello friends,.......

Criticism is the practice of judging the faults of  someone in an intelligible way.

Winston Churchill once said : "Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary.
It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body.
It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things."

Criticism is crucial for personal improvement. It’s the most direct way to find out what you should improve on. However, accepting criticism can be emotionally challenging. Afterall, we are  only human, who wants to hear bad stuff about ourselves?

It’s hard to not take it personally. Our instinctive reaction is to become defensive and we shut out potentially helpful and life-enhancing tips. By doing this, we miss out on what could supercharge our improvement.

So, how can you take criticism without getting self-conscious and defensive?

  • you are right Salman, there is always a srtugle between the ID and the EGO.

    Thanks for your view.

  • Hello Naveed,

I think  a person who has low self esteem will make an incorrect personal judgment and evaluation, this is because he has a low opinion of himself and doesn't think that he's good enough. I feel self criticism is synonymous with self improvement. Self improvement doesn’t mean we just maintain a cheerful disposition.

  • What about self criticism. Analyzing one's own self. I think we need to compare that the criticism brings about a valid or positive change then you should welcome it.
  • Thanks Walid for you comment.

I agree with you in some point,You're right some people do not accept to be criticized.
But we must be in the way of criticism
In our country or even in other countries, me too I accept to be criticised in order to avoid making mistakes again.

  • Well done saying , but as you said criticism can be emotionally and as you live in same country of mine , i think you have idea about our people how are sensitive of that point .

they got mad a lot when you criticise some one for something he did , and one you tell someone actions that he do it in wrong way or his weekness he be angry so fast and start yelling.

As same nation we live in ( Algeria ) i think to be criticise is helpful for better development and good step for Florentine future to our childrens :)

Personally i like to be criticise to fix my week points and to have progress in things i do :)

  • Thank you sooo much dear Yasemin for your explanation.

  • Criticism is the way to the growth. If you know how to take it, you can make your self-development. Good critics will give you their reasons for their negative feedback. Why not listen to them, if they want us to do better? Doubts, questions and criticisms are valuable. If you can handle them, this means your are likey one step beyond the status quo.

It can be hard to hear people saying negative things for something we overworked on, but we have to develop a thicker skin......always welcome criticisms from a good critic.
