He would never do it

Years ago, a campaign to make people aware of abandoned pets started in my country mostly on summers. Media keep on remembering us nowadays but still I wonder how a dog which is supposed to be loved can be left with such a cold blood, with no feelings or remorse.

That puppy that was once bought by a parents to please their daughter for Christmas grew up, as a result it is now an impediment for the summer holidays, for their moving to a new house, for its maintenance... whatever the reasons are, Why the hell didn't they thought it before!?

I like dogs and I'd love to have any but I also know what owning a dog means and surely I couldn't take care of it properly and that's what everyone should ask to themselves before taking a step. (Now I'm thinking also applicable to children but that's a different story)

Let's say this is a call for all those who think that animals are simply beautiful presents.

  • @Rosemary... incidents are unavoidable.

We had to give a rabbit to a pet shop since it used to eat the wires and scratch the furniture. It was not good idea :/

    Thanks for reading.

  • That's it Romi! Well cats use to be more independent and they might like to live a parallel hidden life also :D    But that's the point, taking care of them properly.

  •    This is an important  topic  . I hate it when something  happens  to an animal  because  of people mistreatment   . My husband  bought a little  rabbit  for my kids   , my daughter 2 years old , she used to carry the poor  thing by his  neck  and refused  to put him down until she shocked it :(   I wasn't able to watch them   and take care of the rabbit  . Since that  horrible  incident   , I have refused  to bring any kind of pet home

It's a great campaign   , I wish them all the success  in their  job

  • Hi, Estanis!

I think the same, when I see the homeless dogs or cats.

And I want to add one more thing. I think, it is even not good if somebody gets a pet when he/she doesn't have appropriate conditions for that pet.

  • @Rose... yes, shameless parents, of course it's a bad role model for children. At least there're laws that protect animals and punish this actions.

  • @Tam...  so be it.

  • Dear Olga, now I remember when you said that you or your daughter had collected some abandoned pets from the street, I guess if your house were as big as your heart you could afford more. I'm an animal lover too although perhaps my ego doesn't allow me to take care of any.

Thank you Olga for your touching response.

  • To dara gino:

It isn't the question if someone like dogs or not. The question is that people don't act responsible when they buy a dog and then they leave it without to care for what happens with the dog. If someone buys a pet, he has also the responsibility to treat it properly because it is a living being.

  • You are right, Estanis. People don't think in advance before they decide on buying a pet for their children. It is so easy to make a child happy under the Christmas tree (just for example). To have a pet is also a big responsibility. Many people don't care. They and go on holiday and leave back their pets without to care where they get food and drinking. It is unacceptable and irresponsible and also not a good role model for the children when parents show this kind of behavior.

  • Hi, Estanis. I agree withe you. I have a cat and love him. I can't think that I abandon him, because he is a member of my family. Animals aren't things but creatures like us. The people who have animals for pets should treat them as a member of their family and look after them until the end of their lives.
