Happy 5th Birthday Twitter

What do you use twitter for? This is a question many people are asking themselves today. Those who are not on twitter, may decide that it's finally time to start chirping. Why today? It is twitter's 5th birthday! 

5 reasons I (@tarabenwell) use twitter:
  1. for professional development (every Wednesday I try to join #ELTChat with other English language teachers around the world)
  2. to share amazing links related to my interests (teaching English, writing, parenting)
  3. to invite people to check out sites that I contribute to (marketing)
  4. to keep in touch with friends and fellow bloggers (sharing)
  5. to build a readership (self promotion-my novel is coming out soon and I need all of the readers I can find)

    Twitter gives a lot of things that I need, especially useful links for improving my english,   interesting articles and ... meet many great people there ... thanks Tara, Happy 5th Birthday Twitter ... :)

    If you join, be sure to say hi. To say hi to a specific person, write something like: 

     

    @englishclub Hi EC! Let's tweet together. 

    or

    @kalinagoenglish I'm going to chat with you today. 

    or

    @tarabenwell Who should I follow? I want to practise #English.

    Dear Tara, I have a twitter account , however, I didn't know how to work with it. It seemed to me not user friendly. I didn't know how I could follow poeple there or how I could use twitter. So, my account has been idle for so long. Thanks a lot for the information. I try to befriend with twitter again.

    Yes, it is very popular now. But as for me I am not on twitter!

    Anastasia: Thanks for sharing the note about the broken link! @kalinagoenglish is our very own Karenne Sylvester, so I was glad you spotted the error so I could fix it. I had a missing "g" in the url. I will be speaking with Karenne about blogging at the upcoming IATEFL conference. I can't wait to meet her! You can all chat with her on Thursday evenings.
