Hajj (1)

Hajj, idiomatically or linguistically means intention. Religiously, hajj means intending to visit something greatened, honorable or glorified. The terminology in Islam implies going to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to visit (kaaba) the grand mosque. Hajj or pilgrimage is done annually to Mecca. Pilgrims perform hajj to retrace the steps of the prophets and recount their dedication to God. In Quraan, Allah said, ((And announce on people pilgrimage, they will come to you on foot and on every skinny camel, they will come from every deep and distant highway to perform Hajj)), Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. According to Hadeeth narrated by caliph Omar ibn Alkhatab, may Allah be pleased with him,Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, (Islam was built on five, to testify that there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger. Do your prayers. Pay Zakah (chastity). Fasting in Ramadan and perform Hajj if You could do it).

At this time of the year, people come from different parts of the world to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this duty. It's an obligation once in a lifetime if they could do it. They wear Ihram once their plane comes over migat. The (ulamaa) scientists advise that it is better to be worn before coming near Migat. The captain of the plane or his cabin attendants usually announce the nearing of Migat, but it is better to wear ihram before that or if the trip takes one or two hours, you can wear Ihram at the beginning of it.

Ihram, migat, what is Ihram and what is migat? Ihram is wearing white clothes. They are usually two garments and without any stitching worn by males. For females, they wear their own clothes. Ihram is the first rite of Hajj.

Migat is the place which was specified by Prophet Mohammed to perform Ihram. Detailing this will be included in part two of hajj.

  • Hello,Dara G! Very nice post and informative as well! Every religion has its customs, ritual to follow by its people to attend the peace in their life. I am unaware about Islam and its religious stuff. Though, I have many friends who are Muslim. Mecca is the birth place of Prophet Mohammed, isn't it,Dara? However, thanks for post,Dara bro!

  • Nice blog, very informative... Thank you dara :)))

  • Death is the most destined event in human life.  It is Allah Who chooses the way one dies/have to die.  When I was on visit in 2013 to perform hajj, the constructions work was still going one.  I saw all those cranes fixed for the construction, those were fixed my the world renowned construction companies, who were expert in their field.  Fortunaly there were no storm duing my visit.  No one can expect storms, and how strong it would be.  So last year storm occured, and one of the cranes which was fixed firmly, but be noted that nothing is stronger before the will of Allah.  So the death occurs.  But because of the death occurs during the pilgrims we should not consider lessing the value of visiting the Kaaba.  Death had been happening since the Muslims started visiting/travelling.  In the primitive time where there were no travelling facilities available, people used to travel months before on cames, on foot in caraven and death did occure.  When people started travelling in ships there occured plagues, and people did die. Deaths had always been occuring, but they couldn't not lessen the importance of Hajj, because it is a Fardh.  Saudi Government spending billion of dollars to provide facilities to the people as much as possible in human capicity.  But to control around 3 million people in the scortching heat of the summer is only considered as a miracle.  So stempede occurs, but it happens because of human errors, when people avoide the ruouts made by the authorities, I have seen this.

Besides, like prays in Kaaba are 100,000 times blessed then offered in common, mosques.  In the same way the death is equally afdhal when occurs in the Holy Place Kaaba, then it occurs at any common place.  So no  matter how horrible the death is, if it happens in Kaaba accidently or naturally it is the most blessed for Muslims.

Deaths are occuring throughout the world because to earthquake, thunderstorms, hurricanes, sunamies, so it be considered happening in Maccah.
