Guess the Gift

Sweety had a great post about some gifts she received in January. She challenged members to share a photo of a gift they had received recently. Sahar shared a beautiful post with a collection of gifts. This inspired me to collect a few gifts that my family received recently. I have a little story to tell you about each gift in this collection. Please use the comments to take a guess about one of the gifts you see. Guess who it was for, who it was from, or why it was important to me or my family members (husband, daughter, or son).  I'll tell you the real answer after you take a guess.

For example:

I think Tara received one of her favourite books from a neighbour. I bet she enjoyed this book as a child.

PS-One of the sweetest gifts I received this season couldn't be photographed. It was a special announcement about my book. The publishing team I work with designed it as a gift for me for Christmas and sent it out to thousands of teachers around the world. I was very touched. Have you ever received a touching gift that wasn't a "thing"?

  • Thanks for ur words, Tara. It's a great gift also. I miss my friend. It was about for one years we didn't have contact each other. I will call her and tell her that "it's a greatest gift u gave me. You spent the time with me a lot. It's really really a greatest gift ever.
  • @Zarmanimyo Your friend gave you an excellent gift: the gift of knowledge. More importantly, she gave you the gift of time. Time spent with others is the greatest gift, isn't it?

Don't ever grow out of loving Tom and Jerry! My husband still laughs like a little kid when he watches this show. We saw Arthur Christmas in the theatre last year, and we also rented it this year. It was a great movie!

Have you seen "Rise of the Guardians"? It is my NEW favourite movie. I absolutely loved it.

  • *after watching, she told me that Christmas isn't only (correction)
  • Hi, Tara. I'm from Asia. I'm Buddhist. So, Christmas isn't familiar with me. I love to watch cartoon films such as Tom and Jerry. Is it funny? Yes, my friends told me that u grew up, u shouldn't watch such films. I can't strike back at my friends with a word.
One day, I found a girl who likes cartoon films at my work. We shared on many cartoon films. Sometimes, we watched these films together.
That was Saturday evening, we were watching a films "Arthur Christmas". In that films, one of Santa family, give present for each kid in over 70 countries. One Christmas night, they found that a present was left to deliver to a kid who live very far from their location. Santa and big brother decided not to deliver the gift that night coz it was too late to get there before dawn.
But little brother, Arthur, delivered the gift to that child. I was very touched looking this cartoon. It was so great.
After watching, she told me that Christmas is only for giving gifts to children. Then, she gave a book named "Christmas Carol".
In that book, an old business man didn't like Christmas time. His nephew tried year and year to change his uncle's mind but he failed every year. The old man has a business and he hired a man as his clerk. His clerk is work hard but the old man never think about salary increase. But there wasn't another employee in his office but just one clerk. So, the clerk didn't like him.
When the Christmas time comes, the clerk got a leave from his boss but it's a half of the day. The clerk ran to his home with food and enjoined Christmas time with his family.
The clerk wish for their friends and neighbours "merry Christmas". At last, the clerk told family to wish for his boss. But his wife refused to wish. Her husband explain that the food was brought with money he gave as salary. Moreover, it is Christmas time. We should wish for a person merry Christmas even he is our enemy. It's Si lovely.
The fact I like most in that story is rich people donate money for poor family to celebrate Christmas party happily at that time. I got a knowledge. I knew Christmas is more than giving gifts to children. That's greatest gift I had received from my friend. :)
  • @Nafis Lovely! I'm so happy that your MyEC friends mean so much to you. Thanks for sharing some examples of gifts you've received.

You are right! The photo was a gift from my sister-in-law who is a photographer. She took this family photo when we had a beach day in the summer. It was a really fun day, and I'm so happy that we have this photo to remind ourselves of how important it is to plan family days. We played sports on the beach and enjoyed a yummy picnic. Only two family members were missing. That's pretty good for us!

  • Dear Tara, On MYEC, I recieved so many touching gifts from my very lovely and amazing friends. Once I was so down and homesick and then, I recieved a very touching and caring Email from my dear friend Manuela. I recieved so many other gifts from other friends that all mean a lot to me and I have never had in my real life. For my birthday, once, I recieved a nice touching voice message from my dear friend Martin. I kept all these messages and mails. I saved everything on a CD. It warms my heart and makes me hopeful!

I'm glad you got such a touching gift. I hope every day be a great day for you more fulfilling and prosperous!

I think you got a photo as a gift from your family members!

  • Sweety's comment is so lovely - I really enjoyed the dialogue between Tara and sweety.

It seems everyone cares about the comments on their blog. I'll try to leave a comment on every blog I read

  • @Sweety I did leave a comment. I'm pretty sure it said you were moderating comments. Should I try again?

  • If a paperback edition is not readily available, I will try to read it online.

First, I'll try to make sure I fully understand the detailed policies and I can pay by my credit card - international shipping seems possible. That would be my first time I've ever ordered things on Amazon.
