Foodie special "The Buckwheat"

More than few times people asked me, how to cook the buckwheat.

This is one of the ways to cook it as simple side dish (garnish). So, here we go:

Take one mug of buckwheat (here in my case i took two mugs of buckwheat).

Pour it from mug to the saucepan.

Then wash the buckwheat with water. After washing fill it with water in equivalent twice more than buckwheat. Then cover the saucepan, put it on the fire and wait untill it boils. You don't even need to stir it up while cooking. Don't worry, it will not burn. To be honest i have cooked the buckwheat so many times that after putting it on fire i am setting up the timer with 10 minutes and coming when it notifies.

Ofcourse, while cooking, you can add the spices, because pure buckwheat is not tasty, especially if you have never eat it before. For example, i can eat it without anything, but my brothers are always adding salt and spices.

When the water boiled, decrease the fire and wait untill all the water evaporates (in my case i am just setting the timer with 18-20 minutes and coming when it notifies). You can check if there no water left, using the spoon.

If you see no water left in the saucepan, then turn of the fire. The buckwheat if ready.

Fill up your plate and wait little bit while it cools down.

If you didn't add the spices while cooking, you still can do it even now. And also you still can make it salty or sweet by adding milk or spices or additional dishes. I will describe how to cook one of those dishes in my next blog post.

If you have any questions, just ask me, i will try to answer all of them . Bon appetit!

  • Yes, Zzina!

We can add whatever we want :D

Actually, that is the easiest and fastest way to make it tastier - to add some oil or butter.

  • I wish I can do that:) Have a good day!

  • Then send some buketwheat here.....it is not known here...lol....anyway, thanks a lot.
  • Yes, Bet! You are right! People can make the wheat flour from the buckwheat seeds. The buckwheat is a very important, healthy and useful food! People even make the candies with it!
  • so, it is a kind of wheat, I see....then people can make wheat flour of it?

  • Haha, Elen! Thank you for sharing the details about Greek food! Well, I have seen such writing "I", but maybe I just didn't pay attention:) Or sometimes I even thought "Omg, this person has an overestimating self-esteem" :) Thank you for correcting! Now I will try to write it as capital letter! And thank you for reading!

  • Hmm... at first glance I thought it was lentils, but then I read the blog. I searched in the internet and I saw that it is a healthy and well known cereal in Asian countries but not so well known in my country. In Greek it is called "Fagopyro" and it is also known as "black wheat". Black or Buck wheat, it is the same thing anyway :D

Btw, I have noticed that you do the same mistake that I was doing some years ago and some members corrected me. So, kindly I tell you :) that when you use the letter "I" just alone, you must use it as a capital and not as a lowercase letter. For example, it is wrong to write "i am", "i want", "i cook", but correct to write "I am", "I want", "I cook". You use it as lowercase only when it is inside a word: "dish", "internet"

I hope that I made you understand because I am not good in explaining :/
