Fakers 2.0 - Frenemy

If there’s a modern word that relates to a traitor, it would be the ‘frenemy’. Since the English language continues to evolve, more and more words are being introduced and included in the dictionary all the time. Some words are combined together to form new terms and ‘frenemy’ is one of them.

Frenemy is a combination of the words, ‘friend’ and ‘enemy’. This is a person who pretends to be your friend but in reality he or she is an enemy. Unfortunately, this is a countable noun which only means it can be more than one person… Frenemies! The word is already a bit self-explanatory so I guess this wouldn’t need an elaborate interpretation. But please be reminded this word is informal.

You’ve probably had some frenemies in your life. Am sure everybody has one. Raise your hand if you haven’t met a frenemy already and I would introduce you to him or her. Kidding! Frenemies are a nightmare to deal with! If you’re too kind and naive, these people will take advantage of you. Let me remind you that they are the improved versions of fakers and an alter-ego of zombies.

Frenemies are one of the reasons why we can’t have nice things in this world. They are always hateful, greedy and full of envy. They would do anything to earn your trust. What’s worse, they will not let you succeed in your life or career, and they stab you in the back when the perfect opportunity comes. They would drag you through the mud if you’re not alert enough. Furthermore, they will rain on your parade because they want to be the only star of the show.

If all of our frenemies evaporate, then our world would be a better place to live in. People could work harmoniously and all of us would have the elusive peace of mind. But then again, in the real world frenemies are everywhere. It could be hiding in you. The question is… would you let them breed inside you? I hope NOT…

So my dear frenemies, if you happen to be one. Please change your nasty attitudes now while there’s still a chance or you’ll be burned until you’re toast. Just a friendly reminder…

Thanks for reading!

  • Robbie,

Great post. I like the word you presented, that is exactly how it is described.

Frenemy who are they? Persons who are really not interested in being a friend but for some reasons they pretend like they are.

In my world such people can never ever be categorized as friends. Actually I feel sorry for them, because there are always reasons behind certain kind of behavior and here there must have gone something wrong in their upbringing, because there can not be any other logical explanation for such acts.

I have always believed in, that with kindness you can turn people... but in certain cases I do not believe in it anymore, because it is best to realize for ones own sake, that some people are beyond therapeutic range.

Sometimes Robbie, one just have to forgive and move on for ones own sake, and sometimes things/issues are based on misunderstandings maybe caused by others. Peoples minds sometimes works in a very mean and vicious way, a sad fact but unfortunately so true.

I agree with Rose’s comment as well.

  • You're welcome, Roman!

  • Thank you Robbie!

  • Hi, Dara!

You're welcome! Hypocrites... Yes, they are another form. But they are also terrible people. They are the ones who act so righteously, pray most of the time yet they lust another woman (or men), do filthy things behind their backs and judge others as if they are the only humans that can enter the heavens. That's a good topic to write about!

    Thank you for commenting!

    Have a blessed week!

  • Hi, Luci!

What? I'm not only cured, I was reborn. I'm a Phoenix, remember? You've probably misinterpreted my feelings towards this blog. Maybe because when I write, I sometimes get carried away with the story. It's quite boring when I just write something. And it seems you like a blog when it's about kicking @@@... :P Hmm...

Thank you for liking this piece of writing!

    Cheers to the freakin' weekend!

  • Hi, Rose!

Thank you so much for your comment! I entirely agree with you. It takes time and effort to know a true friend. The sad part is when the ones you found worth emulating and respected, are the people who would hurt you the most. Life is really full of surprises and will always teach us valuable lessons.

    Have a lovely new week!

  • Hi, Roman!

You're welcome! I'm glad you found this blog helpful. I agree with you that if you have frenemies, they would 'turn your life upside down'. I couldn't agree more with your wish! It's my ultimate wish, too he he!

Have a great and exciting new week!

  • Hi, Ahmed!

Welcome to MyEC! Yes, frenemies are the worst people. That is why it's important not to emulate them. By the way, here's the meaning of 'breed'. In my blog, I'm referring it with the meaning 'to make negative feelings or situations develop'. We shouldn't let the attitude of a frenemy to develop within ourselves because we're not going to have the peace of mind in the end.

On the other hand, the idiom ' to rain on someone's parade' means to spoil someone's happiness. When you're doing well and happy, someone might spoil your good mood and make you upset. This is a frenemy's way to ruin your day. Thank you for your comment!

    Happy Learning!

  • maraming salamat mod. Robbie! In other words we can call them hypocrites. They are more deadly than the enemy. They show you what they do not hide from you. Thanks for sharing.

  • Robbie, damnnnn you are still not cured from what has happened to you, I can feel it! Of course that everybody has ever come across such people and hard to say if we all are saint and can say we have never been frenemy - even not intentionally... Thanx for this new word you came up with... I really like it :p
