Extremism

When something is surplus or superabundant than its usual limit it converts to the opposite. From this definition, the term extremism pops up to the surface. It's something much more than the usual. It's usually a situation of great danger or disaster, and here, I am referring to beliefs. Extremism in beliefs is the most dangerous one. It is far than the usual reason and further than is thought to be reasonable. Opinions can be expressed without going to extremes.

I have been living here in Saudi Arabia with many different people. They come from different parts of the world to work here in this biggest exporting country for oil. They have different nationalities, religions, beliefs, cultures. We eat together and work together. We argue, debate, and discuss our various perspectives concerning any subject in a modern manner. Our voices sometimes raised during those discussions but the matter did not need to use our hands or use any kind of violence.

Ten or twenty years ago, this phenomenon was not like now. The holding of views that are so far from being moderate as possible leads to undesired feelings. Extremism in beliefs as I mentioned before, is the most dangerous one. To make a point, some of them use their hands, their guns or even heavy weapons. Most of our problems nowadays come from extremism.

If we talk about political extremism, our talk will expand. We have endured extremities of suffering from them. Two-thirds of the causes of conflicts or wars are because of extremism. I cannot say it's a phenomenon. It's a real disease. We need efforts to get rid of it. Efforts of individuals, organizations, companies, governments, countries and even the help of the united nations. Cooperation, understanding, giving the area for the other to express his or her idea. Or maybe the matter is more than that! People who are specialists and experts in this field can help and give their guidance or help and till then, the phenomenon of extremism will still be there.

  • Cam on! Cam on viethung! And you tell me that you do not know about it. So far your description is very clear for us. Yes, some people like to take advantages of the others' beliefs. Naturally, this is intolerable. Thanks, for your nice useful comment!

  • To me, the extremism ogriginate from the thought of people, ogriginate from mean desire, greed, power... And Someone want to take advantage of the belief of people about religion, politic, tradition and culture of a country to obtain what they want and making numberless conflics and wars on the world. i think it is essence of human beings opposite of kindness, generosity. thus when human being still exist, still have wars and poverty. We just try to reduce that issue and preventing the phenomenon happens. I respect every religions, they are fine but i do not want to talk about them, because of someone they follow extremism and they do not understand that every religion these desire happiness and thriving for every people and every country. Hope everyone thinks like that and give a hand make the world to be more beautiful and thriving. Thanks

  • Kamusta Risty, salamat para sa iyon tanong. Can two persons argue about the sun or the moon? Of course, there are exceptional cases. If one of the two is blind or has something in his vision. There are basic things in our life. we cannot deny their presence or their existence. I told my friend, Dorf Klaus about my friend, Dr. Ajayii, he is from Abuja / Nigeria. He is Christian Catholic. Last night, we met at the supermarket. We hugged and he introduced me to two new friends. forget that, what I am trying to get at is, being good to others from different religions or beliefs, does it make you an extremist? If you believe that these are unreasonable or unacceptable, what then? I really appreciate your nice question. Thank you!

  • Nigal ko walary nannee Amy! My child, I hope you accept to be my friend. There is a big difference in our ages, but I hope you accept to be my friend. Thank you!

  • Sir Dara, what if you "thought" you are right, and you're only seeing yourself doing the "right" thing to do according to you? Same with some people, they push and persist what they have thought right, but doesn't necessary mean that it is right for other people. So, can we consider this as extremism? Thank you.

  • Khaili mumnoon Bahman! I had to come back after prayer to the lecture but once I get home, I shall review it. Thanks for your complimentary words! Hey Bahman, we are missing your videos.
