I joined a devotional community that helps visually impaired. They require writers who can write their examination papers. For past several years I have been writing papers for such students. I would like to narrate few experiences as a writer. Initially some 7-8 yrs back I was sent to help girls living in a blind home, I had to revise their lessons, read out to the entire class the questions and answers, so on. The girls were quite inquisitive and affectionate as well. At the end of the class they would crowd around me, feel my hair, clothes, hold hands and even smell me for frgarnce of my deo. They inquired about my family, shared their agonies , but with a smile, always. Each day they welcomed me with smiles and cheerful faces, shared some snack their parents gave them;they never hesitsted to share their snacks and sweets (the girls were around 9-12 yrs old). I wondered how they could maintain a smile on their faces, some had poor clothing on their body.

Within a year there were more volunteers to help and my class was taken over by another lady. When I joined the next term, I saw another lady, I entered the class and requested her that I have been teaching the class but as soon as they heard my voice they ran out to greet me, insisting to continue, but that lady was not ready to give away the class I taught. I dropped the idea of teaching them. Soon I had the opportunity to write papers for Physiotherapy, and other college going visually impaired.

Once I had to interview few students as a part of entance exam of massage therapy course. There was a last question where the person had to tell his/her three wishes. Each one had an ambition; to perform as musician, actor, teacher and so on. Lastly there was a pretty girl with a very soft and sweet smile on her face, very mild and sober in personality. After completing the qustionaire, I asked her to tell about the three wishes she had. The girl sweetly smiled and said, I do not want anything. I said it was a part of interview and tried to encourage her to  openly speak shunning her fear or shyness. But she continued with the same answer, finally I suggested if she met God she could wish for eyes to see the world, but she again smiled and said ''No I do not desire for anything, I am contented and happy.'' Finally I suggested she could ask something for others and she said ''Oh yes ! I would ask God to make my parents happy, bless them with everything, that would give me immense joy too.'' Her answer with persistant smile truly touched my heart. She never blamed God for not blessing her with vision or poor lifrstyle, but she never knew how beautiful she looked and how impressive her voice, thoughts and gesture was.

Untill today I have not forgotten her; when I left I had a very beautiful lesson from her.

I often come across such wonderful experiences and learn a lesson from the visually impaired.

We must get lessons from them, they are not blessed with a luxury life but still they don't blame their creator. We are blessed with countless happiness and still we don't thank our creator and blame Him for a single bad thing.

Thanks for sharing you experience with us.It's really an inspiration for us.
