Summer

What a boring summer! Liesel thought.

She had finished all the house works and there was nothing she could do after that. She decided to climb the hill not far from her backyard. Lately she found it peaceful to lying on the shade of a tree, watching the clear sky with bubbles of clouds. She had been busy with her own mind, thinking and cursing her three brothers that she acclaimed ‘having best summer holiday ever’.

Hans, the first, mostly buried himself on pile of books. Study was always his excuse when Liesel sneaked his room and asked him to hang out. He would said that he needed to graduate fast and if there was something he did out there, it should be useful for his career in the future. At this point Liesel would say no word and calmly exited the room.  See what was happened when the holiday started, Hans couldn’t be found anywhere, at least by Liesel –though their parents seemed not distracted at all, they just told Liesel not to worry about him because he was already a grown up and strong man. The next week, The grown up and strong man came back with a guitar.

“What is that?” Asked Liesel

“Gibson Less Paul, original ones”

“Would it be useful for your career?” she asked again and he simply answered yes. It made Liesel rolling her eyes, She thought what an agricultural student could do with a guitar. Since then, Liesel had no more access into his brother’s room.

Tudy, The second brother, had been bragging out her plan of tracking since a month before the holiday started. He was preparing everything, he was so ready to go.

“Can I go with you?” Asked Liesel when she helped him write out the equipment Tudy would need.

“Dear, I wish I could” then he patted her head pat pat pat.

He explained why he couldn’t. He said all his friends were boys, there was no way for a girl to join because the road to the hill was dangerous especially for Liesel’s tinny feet.  Then he promised someday he would bring along his dearest little sister into a journey of a great mountain climbing.

“When you a little bit taller, we’ll go. Just two of us!”

Those words were enough to draw a smile in Liesel’s face. There was no doubt she loved Tudy the most among her cynical brothers.

During the first and second day, Tudy called and sent messages to liesel in every hour, all day long. On the third day, they lost contact. Apparently there was no signal in the mountain or his mobile battery was drained. Every time Liesel checked her phone, she would take a look into his brother’s account and made a grumble face for seeing his status ‘Busy creating memories’.

The last one, Liesel’s youngest brother, Miche. He was in the middle of school camp. Not so different from Tudy, he was more than ready. Liesel would recall how Miche was mumbling about it, he said they would have the best week on his childhood, did this and that, learnt about survival, had bonfire and burned the marhsmallow on it. While remembering this, Liesel would fall asleep and remember nothing but peace. A sweet dream came to her mind, Hans, Tudy, Miche and Liesel, was sitting surrounded a bonfire, they seemed to be in a forest in the midnigth. Hans hold his guitar, had been playing it, others were singing with each hand handled a stick with marshmallow on the edge of it.

  • Ahh .. poor Liesel. I'm sure when she starts to show interest to other grown up boys, all he brothers will  constantly be on her side and annoy her. Then she wish her brother to disappear and do their own stuff. LOL
