We are living in a diverse society and we have to act appropriately and sensibly. Equality means treating every one with fairness, giving equal rights and treatments to individuals. Equality is ensuring that every one has equal opportunity to participate and contribute to the community where they live.
Diversity means the range of visible or non visible differences that exists between people. The people's difference can be many and varied. Diversity can be differences in race, culture, national origin, region, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, politics, religion, ethnicity, disability, social-economic differences, family structure, health, values, physical appearance, mental capacities, beliefs, heritage, and more...
Its very important to respect people's differences. When we get to know about others differences and similarities we get to learn many things about the world around us. Respecting people's differences creates friendships, happy work places, travel and enjoy other places, enjoy other cultures, and give us the wider understanding of the world we live in.
Respect people's differences creates more tolerant towards others and take time to know others whom they were unfamiliar previously and try to understand them also lead us to live in a happy environment and it will help our self growth and guide us to acceptance of other people's differences.
To think:
Are women and men equally paid?
Does a disabled person access to all the public building?
Why should all people need to treated equally?
Are we preparing our children to face the multicultural society?
Did you experience any discrimination in your personal life?
