How are you feeling today? Are you happy and excited about something? I hope you’re feeling chuffed!

Here’s a British English expression that means you’re pleased, glad or delighted over something especially in life. It could be about your work, studies, hobbies and things that would make you cheerful. It could also mean something you’ve successfully accomplished.

Here are some examples

  • I’m really feeling chuffed gazing at some new blooms in my garden after a long and tiring day of commuting.
  • Tim felt chuffed when he passed his licensure examination with flying colors.

According to BBC Learning English, the adjective ‘chuffed’ can be used with an adverb ‘well’. This would make the expression very informal.

  • The blind woman was well chuffed to finally witness her daughters’ faces after an eye operation.
  • I bet Lucy is well chuffed tonight. She’s going to have a vacation in Hawaii tomorrow with her husband.

We could make this expression a bit formal when we use the adverb ‘rather’ before the adjective ‘chuffed’.

  • Omar is rather chuffed to witness the newly established business of his friend.

Here’s another meaning of chuffed.

Have you understood this expression? Could you make some sentences using this expression?

  • You're welcome, Rosemary! :)

  • Hi, Rosemary!

I'm really chuffed to see you participation on this blog! Thank you so much for sharing your example sentences. I admire your effort to share them here. Since you've asked if you got those examples correctly, allow me to point out some corrections.

In your first sentence, you could have used the proper spelling of ur which is 'your'. Also, the rest of the sentences didn't have a period. If you're really serious about learning English in this case in writing, you may review a lesson about the proper use of punctuation marks especially the period or 'full stop'. :)

I hope you won't mind my correction, dear. By the way, I'm glad you have a lot of friends in our club.

    Cheers!

    Robbie :)
